I think both Jones and Guillory will be taking a step up this year.

I honestly don’t think we will see much of a drop off on offense if Nuss continues to pass the ball like he did against Wisky in the bowl game. Other than the QB running threat, this offense has the horses to be elite yet again.

Player on the defense is a "force"?

Let's hold USC to below 35 points first.

I sure hope so, he couldn’t set the edge and was always going inside and getting beat to the edge even when unblocked

USC won't get close to 35 points with a bullsh+t offensive line and no type of impact running game! Y'all act like USC is the second coming of LSU 2019 offense.. LLLOoooL
They have no threats at tightened/running back/ they also only have two receiving threats that can be neutralized if the running game is trash... um a QB that threw 300 plus against a average defense in a bowl game and half of those receivers bolted .. like I don't get the hype??? Our offense is ten times better than theirs at all skill positions and and our Oline is top 3 in the country!! Big Facts!! This defense has made huge strides a lot of breakout player are gonna get their shot on a big stage!! We're gonna win by 20+ I'll bet anybody!!!

Hes improved his lateral quickness and technique. Obviously having Bo has been a real advantage here.

Idk if the weight last year was just put on too quick or not exactly done right but hes leaner while having the same weight so he looks to be in better shape and having a stronger and faster point of attack.

Could be in for a good season and theres two people to get the credit for that. Him and Coach Bo.

Savion has gotten the best of Emery a couple of times and Campbell once or twice.

I think we finally get what several of us were predicting last year from him.

We didn’t last year. The coaches have explained what went wrong last year. Here is a list of things it wasn’t:
- It wasn’t not setting the edge
- It wasn’t lining up off the ball
- It wasn’t a lack of talent in the secondary
- It wasn’t that Penn was a poor LB
- It wasn’t that our D-Line was not good

Here is a list of things it WAS:
- It was an inability of the coaches to teach the players their assignments, which were very complicated.

That’s it.

Then we’ll win the championship. But I seriously doubt we won’t take a big step back from being the unquestioned #1 offense in football.

You must've not watched much football last year then or you just can't recognize the LOS and how far off the ball they were lining up. Maybe you were just drunk or maybe you're just a troll

BK had to bring in Pawpaw Pete not even a month into the season bc the DL was so bad. OM had a sorry arse OL and the D got their shite pushed in. Lane took what was given and pounded the rock for over 300 yds and threw when he wanted to for almost 400 yds. Clearly lined up off the ball most of the game and provided ZERO pass rush which resulted in not being able to stop the nose bleed.

Not necessarily. Just becuase they are saying better things about the defense doesn’t mean that they wont still suck again. Defense could be the reason we waste another really good offense.

he has to be one of the biggest disappointments last season because in 2022 he actually made some plays they need him to become a force in the sec

I’m chalking last year up to Matt House and no D line coach.

He showed flashes before last year and the whole D sucked arse last year.

Hopefully just decent coaching can get him back to SEC level

I hope he has gotten faster because from the looks of it last season he is as slow as hell.

That’s what I was thinking. He looked so slow last year.

Coaching/scheme makes a huge difference. Even Perkins looked terrible last year.

Scheme and coaching are critical, but I disagree on Perkins. He definitely wasn’t used in a way that maximized his talent and looked lost early in the season, but talent still has a way of shining through. He was the best coverage LB in the SEC by the end of the season. Dismissing that, even though it isn’t as flashy as his big games as a freshman, is pretty shortsighted.

One of the main podcasts (either 247 or On3) mentioned he looked like he was in better shape, moving faster, and having more of a impact. They mentioned how that was a big issue last year and how much slower he looked last year than the previous season.

The additional weight didn't help, but I think it was a combination of several factors with the weight being just one.

The whole defense line seemed to be a split-second behind for the majority of the year, being in a more read and react mode that the fired DC seemed to prefer rather than just getting after it and causing havoc while maintaining their responsibilities within the play call. The DL really didn't blow-up many plays last season. The problem with engage, react, then go for the DL is it creates that split-second lag. Whereas, go, engage, then react (if necessary) takes the action to the OL instead of letting the action come to the DL. When finally turned loose at the end of the Wisconsin game, the DL wrecked shite. Which just exasperated my season long frustration with the defense. I was yelling at the TV, "WHERE HAS THAT BEEN ALL YEAR" while raising the middle finger salute to that former coach that will not be named. Frick him. Additionally, that split-second lag cost Swinson a handful of sacks last year. LBs read and react, DTs go.

Scheme and lack of imagination in play-calling. Few stunts, few blitzes, and let the action come to the defense. SHDN. Enough said.

From the last practice video it appear that Shon Washington was ballin too. I think this defense is gonna surprise some folks this year especially with Blake Bakers attack mentality.
