Ben was good, but I'd take NOLA over Ben any day as a COLLEGE pitcher. Ben was the goat in two CWS. From the early results, I'd take Lange over Ben as well.

Ben was great but he sure did throw cabbages in the CWS.

He's the best freshman LSU pitcher ever.

i would say the best freshman.
And if he gets the command down like nola had, he will be better than nola.
and thats nothing against nola. lange has some nasty stuff.

Lange's curveball might be the nastiest I have ever seen at LSU.

You obviously have never seen Ben McDonald. One of the best pitchers in ncaa history.

Too early to tell but definetly one of the best freshman we've had.

1st LSU pitcher to throw a CG in Onaha since '93. Not to shabby. Not sure what that says about our bullpen though.

Yes. We should retire his number this year. He's that good. Doesn't even need to play the next two years.

Best ever?? Too soon to say. He's pretty damn special at this point of his career. If he continues down the path he is on, I think he'll definitely be in the conversation. Bottom line: the kid is damn good!!!

Then you've never seen Ben McDonald pitch.

McDonald was the Chris Jackson of LSU baseball: A once-a-generation type player.

Laxton against Wichita State was pretty impressive.

Yeah, I did. I am old, too. I did say "might be". Maybe I am premature, but Lange's curveball is a thing of beauty.

Lang's curve is one of the filthiest I've seen, especially for a fresh. The only thing that worries me with him is the arm fatigue factor.

He tends to lose a couple MPH off of his pitches if he goes 4 or 5 straight starts with 7 days rest.

Today his curve was at about 78-79 and his FB was 89-91

The weird thing is that it stays pretty consistent at that throughout the game.

He's the best freshman pitcher ever but Aaron Nola is the best pitcher in LSU history and Lange will have his hands full to take that title in the next 2 seasons.

Remember how good Matty Ott was his freshman year? Not a good comparison, I know. But let's wait and see how he progresses
