As a current student who was at the game last night, what pissed me off more than people leaving early (which I am guilty of in the past) is sitting down during play.

Our defense is on the field and 3/4 of the students are sitting down quietly.
Like at least stand up and try to seem enthused.

I don't have a huge problem with this except in big moments. Most people truly only stand because they cannot see sitting down. With a sparse crowd offering easy views from a sitting position, why should they stand and yell when they can sit and yell? They've been on their feet tailgating all day.

I am far more annoyed with our absurd drinking age and campus parking, alcohol, freedom of association, and freedom of speech policies than I am about the conduct of the fans that actually attend and remain at games.

Well they're not yelling either while sitting down is the point I am trying to make.
Most were on their phones, etc.

bullshite. I have seen very good LSU teams much better than this one get abandoned at halftime with only a 10 or so lead...

Cell phones and social media. People have a lot of distractions and things coming up on the fly.

Just like everything else in life everything is becoming worse in this country. Tiger stadium use to a place teams feared to come and that isn’t the case anymore with these new LSU fans

Back in the early 70's I would be waiting outside the gate by 2 PM and never left until the clock was 0:00. If I had left early I would have missed Bert Jones hitting Brad Davis as time ran out to beat Ole Miss in 1972. I never saw the stadium empty out as early as it does today. Death Valley is not what it used to be.

I agree with most of your message, but I do not think TV is the problem. The stadium is full when the game starts and near empty by the 4th Q. The attention span of the younger generation is not up to a 3 hour football game. Stay long and stay loud, make Tiger Stadium a place to be feared by all opposing teams!

I will always walk to the student section, no matter what section my tickets are in. I absolutely cannot stand people who bitch about standing up during the game. I only like to sit during tv timeouts and half time.

I would like to know the difference between how long games lasted 2 decades ago vs how long they last now.

I'd be willing to bet they are quite longer today.
