agree it’s in a shite spot but that isn’t the main reason students aren’t showing up
Truth.
Students aren’t showing up Bc no one cares about basketball. the team has to be really good to attract a crowd.

You’re either 90+ years old on heroin or having a stroke.

Until we're a top 3 team in the SEC no one will show up. That's not asking much. Our division is shite. Baseball game was popping today. No where to sit if you were a student.
Isn’t AU projected as a 2 seed?? The gumps, TAMU, & ARKY are also tourney teams. Yeah. Pitiful division.

Out of all four sides of the arena, the students are in the worst with having the media section stuck right next to them. Our student section starts out narrow at the bottom and widens the further up you go. It’s absolute shite...
Look directly opposite from the student section. See how many people are sitting in those "absolute sh*t" seats. Oh yea, those people pay full price for their horrible seats!
Shut up and get your friends to come meet you at the game & appreciate the fact that you actually have the opportunity to cheer for an exciting LSU basketball team. Lots of us couldn't say that during our days as students.

Having 15 students show up to sit in the student section is embarrassing. LSU basketball needs to start a campus wide push or something. Start by a student online survey why they don't attend.

IMO the students need to earn a better seating location, but winning and contending is what it takes to get it started.

Let's see - school was in session, Mardi Gras is over, no final exams, it was a weekend game...am I missing any of the usual excuses?

No excuses for students not to show up. The student section area is a terrible location. Even if they do fill it up, it doesn't have much impact on the game. They should be courtside behind the opponent's bench or move the media section to a different area so the students can be more courtside.

First off, I want to fire Alleva like the majority.
However, if Wade leaves because of low support for the program, that’s not on Alleva. We need to support this team and this coach so he sees it as his long term location.
If we can fill the pmac for gymnastics (which they deserve), we can fill it for men’s basketball!

The majority of students don't give two shites about a mediocre basketball team. Until there is a better product, students won't show up.
I'm no statistician, but I'd guess there's a pretty strong correlation between a teams ranking and number of students/fans showing up.
Let's look at baseball, gymnastics, and basketball. The first two squads were runner up national champs last year and entered this year ranked. And would you look at that, they have a ton of student support! Basketball on the other hand finished dead last last year and will most likely finish with a losing conference record this year. You see what I'm getting at?

Obviously, still...you see excuses aplenty other than this from them as to why they don't show and when none of those usual excuses they espouse are in play nothing changes.
Good win for the Tigers today, and meaningful in keeping at least a glimmer of hope to get in the post-season conversation. Quite an accomplishment for the team we have in place. Just sad to look over there and see empty seats where you would hope some might recognize the accomplishment and support what's being built.

Weird looking bunch that goes to basketball games.
Bunck of geeks appears to me.

The location of the student section being the reason students don't show up is an excuse as well. They won't suddenly start showing up in droves because they get to sit on the sideline. Besides, some of the best sections are located on the baseline. Doesn't seem to bring down those atmospheres.

To the few of you who stood and tried to be a factor, thank you.
I think there are a combination of reasons that we could all point to and say those are valid reasons the student attendance is down. It'd be nice if the students showed up and supported the team regardless of record or seating availability/location, but I guess that's true for all of us.
The part that frustrates me the most about the issue is that the students can be a catalyst for the rest of the crowd getting into a game. For some reason when you look over and see the students going crazy it seems to ignite the crowd like nothing else. It'd be nice if we had that presence at the basketball games. Hopefully next year there will be better turnouts and maybe LSU can re-evaluate the location of y'all's seats during the offseason.
Either way, I hope students hear me when I say the reason people complain about y'all is bc y'all can be a great influence on a game when you show up and act like crazy kids rooting their asses off for the team. Your involvement matters!! It's really not just a bunch of miserable old people griping for the hell of it

LSU used to let students sit down low, on the side of the court. No one showed up.

To quote one of my favorite movies,"If you build it, they will come." They is no doubt Will Wade is building something, but in the age of instant gratification do you really expect millenials of all people to sit there and wait for it to happen? When LSU is good again, the students will show back up. Until then they will find what they consider a better use of their time.

Still sad to see, I think they would have enjoyed the game yesterday. I did.

it's pathetic to watch games on tv and see the enthusiasm of the student sections, no matter where they are seated, as compared to the LSU student section... LSU students are 2nd class, as compared to other student sections in the SEC and nationwide!
