84 plays, not 82. Which is some kind of fricking football science fiction at this level. 2 to’s. 50% get off percentage on 3 down. And yes, held a good O to 24pts. They did enough to win.

No one will ever confuse this unit with the 85 Bears. But it’s a solid group that will keep the tigers in every game. If you’re expecting a defense to hold any decent D1 team to under 3 td’s…in this day and age? You’re dreaming.

So you’re basically wanting the defense to be the 85 Bears and force 3 and outs every drive. That’s what they’ll need to be with this offense.

ikr

wonder how bad he melted when kiffin hung 56 on us in 2023

Dude Su. Offense couldn't do nothing defense on the field more. Got tired. Best defense would do same. Post less

What a boneheaded play that was.

The same defense that gave up 7 the entire 2nd half and got the offense the ball back at the 50 2x after?

Wrong.

That 18-play drive? Field goal, 0 explosives. That’s bend-don’t-break, not “getting rolled.”

First ~40 OM snaps: 4.57 YPP allowed, 0% explosives, 37.5% on 3rd down = winning defense.

The swing was self-inflicted: roughing + two DPIs = +44 free yards and an erased INT, then TD.

Our tendencies keep the D on the field: 1st&10 pass = 10.26 YPP / 71% SR, yet we still run ~46%; 2nd&10 runs 61% for 0.6 yds/play and ~10% SR.

Blame the dumb penalties, sure—but the gassing is on offensive sequencing/Middle-8, not some myth that the D “got rolled all night.

You must have expected LSU to win 19-0? You won't win many SEC games scoring under 20 pts.

If Ole Miss averages 24 a game, they are at best a 7-5 team

West Weeks plays undisciplined and will cost LSU another TD or two with stupid penalties. The fact he wasn’t flagged multiple times against UF is a miracle. Anyone paying attention could see that disaster coming miles away.

It will happen again. Just wait. He can’t help himself

28 first downs
84 plays

Our defense did not play like an elite defense yesterday. Of course you need a offense that can at least move the ball

The defense had the game flow heavily in LSUs favor early in the game. Nuss throws a pick & it completely changed the game. The Weeks personal foul shortly thereafter contributed as well.

The defense played good enough to win.

Ole Miss wasn’t scared to take shots because they knew the offense wasn’t going to put up much of a threat! Defense put the offense in great field position and nothing

All you people who think this defense should get a pass are going to find out just how average it is when they face good offenses the rest of the way. True, we won’t face an offensive mind the equivalent of Kiffen the rest of the season, but we will face above average offenses. It took Kiffen two drives to figure out what Baker was doing and once he did, it was over!

Im convinced you people are paid by offensive coaches. The defense gave up 24 points to a lane Kiffin offense in Oxford and it's somehow the defenses fault? Gtfo you sad little weirdos

In today's football you're going to give up points. Especially to a guy like Lane. The rules are set up for it because fans love scoring.

That defense played well. You have to account for them dropping a little edge after watching the offense constantly not do shite.

Georgia and Bama both have good defenses, no? That score was 24-21. Giving up 24 isn't necessarily a bad showing these days.
