re: Stop making excuses for Moffitt. Why is the bar set low for him?

No we dont. Bama's 2nd team could finish in the top 15. No one is close to bama.
Amazing how many people don’t understand this.
If Bama played an NFL team, they would be beaten because of talent, not S&C. Moffit still gets inquiries from the NFL, and I’m sure Cochran does as well. There is much parity in college football in terms of facilities, nutrition, and S&C. Players still make the difference.

All our Linemen, offensive and defensive look really out of shape. How good would Rashad Lawerence be if he was in shape?

Teams should hire you as an analyst so that your expert eye can alert them when their players get out of shape. You have a gift.

I’m sure Coach O will eventually figure out what the problem is and fix it.

All top programs have very good S&C programs. Any difference among them will be very tiny.
The vast, vast majority of the difference in overall football programs is due to recruiting, and then player development, scheme, tactics, motivation, etc.
Too many on this board think a better S&C program will propel us to the next level. Silliness.

The number of guys we have bench over 30 reps at 225 has dwindled over the years.
we've always sucked at the bench under Moffit
i was actually about to go look up Bama's combine results to see if Cochran has them benching well
LSU actually has a history of guys doing very shitty at the combine, including star players like Dorsey, Landry, etc.
even guys like LF have glaring wtf things, like his vert

Moffitt’s been modifying Hatch’s system for 20 years and they’re not even remotely similar these days. For someone who apparently knows Hatch’s system so well you sure don’t know what “your” talking about. Just because Moffitt was a Hatch protege in 1986 doesn’t mean that he’s running the “same damn system” as Scott Cochran, it means that they both can properly teach the Olympic lifts. Neither runs a copy of Hatch’s program if that’s what you’re getting at
Coach Hatch will throw Tommy Moffitt’s name around all day long because he likes the notoriety of having successful protégés but he’d probably tell you himself that Tommy is over the hump. The strength coaching game has come a longgggggg way since about 2005 and I’m in the “we need a younger guy who’s more up to date” boat
Did I say I knew hatch's system that well? I know but not crazy good.
As far as S&C coming a long ways since 2005....haha it hasn't come a long ways since 1965. The only things new is understanding how we should condition i.e. specific understanding of energy systems and recovery methods which have come a long ways with new technology.
Everything else is simple, strong hips, strong kegs, strong arse.
Now Scott is running the same basic system. Sure his blocks/waves might be a tad different and how he conditions the team might be slightly different. But overall same basic premise. One isn't running a conjugate based system vs hatch system.
I fricking despise how Moffitt is so old school on conditioning and how he doesn't use atleast most of the conjugate principles with the special exercises.
I despise how we don't use specific gymnastics to work on moving the body through space for rb,wr, and dbs.
Also hate how we don't make dramatic body transformations that are capable of happening. But I also realize alot of the above is predicated on the direction the head coach wants to go.
Now I never said we didn't need new blood, I just said that's now the underlying problem. All you have to do is look at recruit rankings for lineman and nfl draft picks to realize the main probkem.

We recruit big sloppies. I’ve said it for some time, look at Bamas DL and then look at ours. There’s a noticeable difference. They just recruit a different level of player.

Btw for those saying Scott gets inquiries from the NFL...
Scott is known for causing shoulder girdle injuries in the NFL and across the S&C world.
Great for college football judging by his results but the NFL puts a premium on keeping players healthy.

Alabama just knows how to handle LSU in the trenches, and Saban figured it out long ago starting with that 2012 embarrassment and he hasn't deviated from it since. He knew that Les Miles loved to dominate teams at the point of attack with running the football down their throats, and so he just instructed his Alabama teams year after year to just dominate LSU at the LOS, so I don't think it has anything to do with Peds and all that shite. But more to do with heart and who wants it more and right now Alabama has continued to take LSU's will at the LOS. Ensminger and Orgeron hasn't changed much from what Mile's was doing, and so they continue to get beat at the LOS or in the trenches. Everyone on here knows by now that you have to take Alabama out of that comfort zone of dominating LSU in the trenches, spread them out and keep them off balance like the successful teams do against them. LSU has yet to do that, and so they continue to struggle and get beat up in the trenches in trying to dominate Bama with continuing to play hard ball with a team that knows that is what they wanna do. I mean change your damn philosophy on offense for goodness sake by now, enough is enough.

Bench reps test is purely a relic of the NFL Combine. Serves no purpose for getting players ready to play the game. S&C coaches don't train their players to max rep bench presses.

Some fans may not like it but you in fact have a point. LSU does seem to have a need for a better strength program.
Some of the problem also is because Les Miles left LSU with an OL which was lacking in depth and talent particularly at the Tackle positions.
Orgeron realizes this and is trying to correct it via recruiting but it will take a year or two to build the depth and talent on the OL LSU needs.
Both DL and OL had slipped under Miles in his last 2-3 years. That was obvious and you can't correct things in the trenches as fast as you can at WR or DB.

Talked about this with a friend recently and I totally agree. Quinnen Williams is a perfect example, his explosiveness, quickness, strength and agility are off the charts. He doesn't have any "bad" weight and all of our dt's do, which takes away from all the traits that make Williams great.

What are the obvious signs you see on TV that show you there is a strength disparity?
Posted on 1/6/19 at 12:36 pm to Dizz
Quinnen Williams cork screwing cushenberry in the ground and collapsed his extended arms when he engaged with Williams multiple times. That isn't always strength alone, but when you combine it with great technique, speed and agility, it is a lethal combination.

Your example is an All American top 5 pick doing what he did to almost everyone.

Question on PEDs...
If one forces his body to spike HGH production NATURALLY(pattern of diet/eating) and exercise with no supplements like Nugenix or whatever BS pills are out there, would they get busted for PEDs?

I think we should realize it's both moffit and technique and try to get better in both areas instead of blaming the other area. That's what champions do get better in your weaknesses and both are weaknesses.
