You don't become an Offensive Coordinator at A&M, Clemson or Auburn at ANY time without being a good, respected Coach. For someone to come on here and suggest otherwise is pure stupidity.
Not just that, but you don't become a position coach at a top ten football program without a good knowledge and reputation, either.

Gary Crowton, who became Offensive Coordinator at Oregon and LSU, says what's up.

you don't e-listen very well, asst. coaches wages have been below poverty level until VERY recently, could well be that he was making more to be a HS coach in his home town than he was being a vagabond, schlepping his family all over the place building his resume, when in fact, he didn't need to do so anymore, I know more than a couple of great coaches that left the business because they couldn't feed their families
ETA: and I'd rather see one of our guys on the sidelines finally getting rewarded, than some of the schmoes we've had on the payroll in recent years

Ensminger was at Auburn, the staff was let go. He was at a HS in Alabama, took a job at Texas TEch, then was hired at LSU right before spring.
Ensminger is very respected as a coach and has been at some top programs. He is very involved in recruiting parts of Alabama, North LA, and Dallas area.

When has Ensminger ever been considered a good coach? He's a journeyman coach and he's the lowest paid on the staff for a reason.
All coaches are journeymen and TE coach is generally the lowest paid position on the staff. Neither of those 2 things are a negative in regards to his position here.

Not exactly a terrible move if you are within striking distance of vesting in the state's pension...

I assume Steve Ensminger is related to Brian Ensminger? Cousins, or brothers?

I don't understand all of his detractors. Just wait after another year of Moffetization Ensminger is going to go all beast mode at TE coach.

I thought Ensminger and his wife divorced years ago and that's how his son magically appearedwith Daddy in West Monroe in time for football season.

I don't think you will get a coherent answer from this board since none of them are on the coaching staff and have no idea as to precisely what goes on inside of it.
Oh we know what goes on, it happens every saturday

tight ends have been nothing but run blockers for years.
Why did we throw to the TE in just that game and none either before or after?

The only problem with Steve is that he doesn't fit the demographic of what many of the Rant geektards think an assistant coach should be.
Hopefully, CC will fix the invisible TE syndrome at LSU and we'll see if Ensminger has em ready when called on.

we were throwing to Jacobs in the 4-5 games before he got kicked off the team. split him out wide vs SC (remember the fade Mett threw to him 10 feet in the air?) and Bama, and had him running free for a big play vs. aTm. I had high hopes for him.

not so sure about that. I've read that he's actually been somewhat of a sideline QB coach. that seems plausible seeing as how QB coaching really seems to be his background.

So were Chad Morris, Gus Malzahn and Art Briles a few years before they made a name for themselves at the college level. Go watch some Texas high school 5A football. I promise you a lot of those guys could could coach in college.

Tell us what you know. Let us in on your deep knowledge of the inner workings of the LSU coaching staff. I am assuming that you have concrete information to share. I am positive that your long and distinguished coaching career will be able to shed some light in this subject.
Some provable anecdotes, quotes and/or references would be nice, which I am sure you have in abundance.

I thought DeSean Smith said Ensminger was the coach on him.
