Message Posted by Teacher Part of the problem was both JJ and JL were asked to play too early due to bad QB recruiting by Miles. Both were not ready as FR.

He successfully hauled in the #1 qb recruit in the nation who was set to start that season until he went brain dead. What would you have had him not recruit him? And is Miles now supposed to be a mind reader who magically knows who will rise and who will fall in their decisions?

That combined with the fact that we need game participation from both QBs to win the natty.

I don't think either QB would have been able to Domitian alone.

True RP was recruited by Miles and also kicked off the team with no one ready to step in. Miles still has trouble recruiting QBs. You can not count Mett as a HS recruit and Rivers (who knows).
How many years has Miles been here and no QB?
Saban is not having any trouble in AL.

Dude. No program can withstand the loss of a starting qb at that point. It's a tribute to Miles and staff that we won 8 games and a bowl that year with basically our 4th string qb. Who could have done that? Then we go on to win 9, 11 and 13. Sounds like improvement and success and good coaching to me. Oh, and this Saban fella who doesn't seem to be having problems has lost to Miles more than he's beaten him recently.

lsusteve1,

You obviously did not watch the SECCG to make an idiotic statement that JJ did not look horrible. That was probably the worst QB performance in SECCG history. I figure you or the poster known as Larry Hollins is actually JJ in disguise.

I love the Rant, especially for jewels like this.

Good lord I hope you're not a real teacher.

Good point, he didn't have 3 other QBs on the roster. Good thing we converted 3 other WRs to QBs to play the position.

RP, RS, ZL, ZM, and now GK. Perhaps you should switch your assinine statement to "Miles has had terrible luck with the top QBs he has recruited". This would be more accurate.

quote:

You can not count Mett as a HS recruit and Rivers (who knows).

Oh, I see. This doesn't fit your stupid, assinine agenda.

According to you, since 2005.

quote:

Saban is not having any trouble in AL.

LOL. Right. McCarron is a world beater.

Did you feel the same when Saban struggled with Randall? You probably forgot about all of that, though.

How many top flight QBs do you think LSU should recruit? Should LSU be one of few schools to land two or three 4-5 star QBs to commit?

I need entertainment. I can't wait to see your replies.

Read their post history. It's awesome. Nothing but Miles bashing.

And I've been saying this for three years:

Not to mention 13-0 with arguably one of the toughest schedules in the history of the game.

jl got his shot and screwed up royally in the first bama game. no one OWED him anything after that. if he had played average he would have still been the started. he screwed up and yes life is not fair.

JJ started 32 games in 3 years for LSU. In 10 of those games he had less than 100 yards passing. In one stretch during the 2010 season, he passed for less than 100 yards in 6 of 7 games in a row. The other game he threw for 100 yards on the nose. So, he had 7 straight games with less than 101 yards passing. Yet, Lee did not get a chance to start.

JJ started 5 games this year. In 3 of those games, he had less than 100 yards passing. Yet, Lee did not get a chance to start again.

In the last two seasons combined, JJ has started 18 games. He threw for less than 101 yards in 10 of those starts. In the last two seasons, JJ could be described as:

jj got his shot and screwed up royally in 10 out of 18 games, not including getting arrested. no one OWED him anything after that. if he had played average he would have been able to throw for more than 101 yards/game. he screwed up and yes life is not fair. but, for some reason, Miles continued to play him.

His SECCG performance will be the standard by which all future SEC QB's are judged.

The thing that pisses most fans off is the fact that JL made his mistake in Alabama round 1 in Nov. and was sat down. JJ looked horrible the rest of the year and never recieved the same treatment

It was on par with half of his games in '10, but yeah..he definitely shite the bed in primetime in that one. I think what people need to realize is that Miles wasn't going to play anyone but JJ, period. No matter how badly he played. I am SOOOOO f'king glad this stuff will soon be in the past.

How many times did JJ screw up as a starter? I don't know, but he always seemed to get another chance.

How many times did JL bail-out JJ and Miles? Several times, including the first 7 games of 2011.

I wonder if LSU would have went 12-0 in the regular season with JJ as the starter. For the most part I think NO.

FIFY.

Remember RP? Bad recruiting? If RP doesn't keep getting into trouble and get his butt tossed off the team, JL doesn't get forced into starting and certainly JJ doesn't.

did you forget about the terrible offensive line play & horrible field position during the 1st half.

JJ didn't make great throws during the first half [the pass to RR2 comes to mind]. But, I would not put all of the blame on him.

this....maybe some of the jackasses on this board will someday get this very simple fact. the staff makes their calls based on performance and track record....not emotion and "love affairs."
