Starting Championship Series on Sunday night

If the NCAA cared about the legitimacy of the CWS, they would want both teams that reached the Finals to each have their best pitchers available. By pushing it up to Saturday, it gives any team in Losers bracket one day to rest. Yet, they were giving everyone two days rest when the week started. Win or Lose Game 1, and you still got a day off.
This is all because of TV and ESPN controlling the broadcasting.
Look at the WF/LSU game the other night where Skenes and haircut put on a show. that was one of the greatest college baseball games EVER and highest rated game of the season, in NCAA and MLB.
Why would they not want to have that for the Championship series?
Not bitching, just curious why they make a 2 of 3 series start one day after the games end besides ESPN being greedy and wanting to capitalize on the Saturday primetime window

Hindsight is always 20/20 but since we won game 1 and likely would have had the same result if Skenes had pitched, I kind of like where we are at in terms of pitching. Only thing I wish is that Skenes maybe had one more day of rest.

Should’ve beat Wake the first time

quote:also for the traveling fans. Not saying I agree with it but its been cited that fans making the trip wanted to the CWS to be condensed

We’ve been over this Walt. Florida wasn’t in our bracket, they shouldn’t benefit from how we won ours.
It’s pretty bad there could conceivably be a championship series where neither ace pitches.

Hindsight says -
Last Saturday Game 1 vs Tenn: we should have pitched Floyd/Hurd
Last Monday Game 2 vs Wake: Skenes and Coop
Last Wednesday Game 3 we probably win with Ack, Coop, Herring, etc
We would have been off Thursday and Friday.
Game 1 vs Florida would have been Floyd and Hurd - and we won
Game 2 vs Florida yesterday would have been Skenes on 5 days rest. Series over.
I tried to tell everyone this but.... everyone was locked in on winning Game 1 with Skenes.
Having said that, if it works out today and we win the Natty.... none of my jibberish matters.

It is what it is.
Hopefully in the future they recognize that you can have better series when both teams get a little rest.

Easy solution. Don’t lose and you could be where Florida was at to start the series.
I bet you wouldn’t have made this post if that were the case…

The excuse about having the games so close to each other so that fans can attend all of them is dumb. Move the championship series to one week later. You essentially play a series +1 game (if you are in the winners bracket) to get into the championship series. It only makes sense to let everyone rest a week so that the championship series will truly be the best of what both teams have to offer, instead of teams scrambling to put together a pitching staff with players that are available after playing 4-5 games in 6 days...which is the only time in a season that teams have to do such a thing.

Easy for you to say. I've been Omaha for over 10 days and am running out of clean clothes. My dog and cat in BR will not know me.

Loser mentality. If we would have gone 3-0 and had multiple days rest and then come up stiff and rusty then everyone would have complained about that...the bracket is what it is just play the game and stick to the plan. No one is going to care about the schedule win or lose. We knew this was how the tournament was setup so go win the damn thing.
