Uh... if it's not happening now, which has been the case for several years, why would things suddely transform during the summer?

I'm talking about the improvement the QBs make in a specific area. Harris was definitely better as a sophomore than he was as a freshman, so I would expect another big improvement by him with whatever he is working on most. I'd like people to simply look at the spring game in 2014 and the one in 2015 to see just how much he changed.

Seems like they are specifically working on short passing, touch passing, and his mechanics. Craig is an extra set of eyes and he has worked with Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel (transformed him into a first round prospect). He recruited Winston to Florida State and coached him during his year where he had to redshirt.

If some of that can rub off on Harris, then we are in much better shape than before.

The scheme still needs to be modified though.

Holy Mother of God. One guy watches one very early spring scrimmage, and in his opinion, doesn't look good on short routes, and the whole fricking board goes into full melt and retard mode? Yep....this is the tRant.

No offense to the OP. But you may or may not be insightful enough to know whst is going on. But with 100% certainty the Rant will collectively take what you have presented and make it gospel.

I would like to think that the addition of Aranda, the greatest goddamn mind in football history, is to credit in this scenario. The Rant has said he is the best ever.

This thing could go either way, let's ne a glass full group

It's been 3 months since last season. How much improvement do you think Harris is gonna get during that time?

I'm not sure that the OP could take it any other way.

You're basically telling him to pay no attention to all of smissed short passes. You're not really seeing that. I guess they were practicing overthrowing the receiver. This is why it aggravates the hell out of me when people crown BH and dismiss Etling out of hand.
BH is still struggling with same old shite that he's always struggled with and Etling seems not to have that problem. But this is BH's team. Hell Etling couldn't even play at Purdue.

were people really expecting major results in two weeks of practice?

Regardless, I'll believe it when I see the change in offensive strategy. MIles has promised us this every year.

Personally, I'll take a guy that can hit short routes over long routes every day of the week. Miles prefers the latter.

Well, it would be unrealistic to expect immediate improvement in Harris's short passing but I would hope that he can work on this over the spring and summer. And if you play a quarterback who can only throw short, you will still have defenses cheating. Maybe Etling's weakness with the long ball is why he lost the job at Purdue. It sounds like both quarterbacks need to get better. What a surprise.

Miles thinks the only way to win games is with a running game and a 50 yard bombs.

I would 10x rather have a more accurate QB over a bomber that can't hit the broad side of a barn under 20 yards.

I need actual percentages. How many did he throw? How many did he complete? Were the WRs getting separation? Did they catch the ones they were supposed to? They dropped a lot of balls last year they shouldn't have. I'm holding judgement until the actual spring game.

See, you prove my point exactly. Thank you.

The OP reported the short and INT pass game was wildly inconsistent. Nor what QBs he was referencing

We do t know if it was overthrows, under throws, lack of RB or TE execution or any of 100s of scenarios. Yet you go off half cocked, declare that Etling needs a look and start saying shite about Purdue

Not surprised. The next 6 months will decide how good LSU will be next year. Natural maturation alone won't make this team better. They need to be coached up at key positions.

I don't understand those downplaying the OP when we as fans have seen the same problems IN REAL GAMES for the past 2 seasons. And for years before 2013.

worked with? sure, yes

transformed? um no, Jimbo did this

recruited? sure, he helped Jimbo do this

Let's not act like the QB success at Florida State can be attributable to anybody but Jimbo Fisher. But Craig did at least spend enough time in the program to learn from Jimbo, I'll give him that.

Was I the only person that missed where the OP specifically stated Harris was the person struggling with the short and intermediate passes? The way I read it was that the QBs as a whole were missing on the short and intermediate passes.
