LSU's SEC opponents in 2005: 34-38 in conference (including an impressive 1-7 outing by O's Ole Miss squad)

LSU's SEC opponents in 2017: 29-35

it kind of is when you call a poster a "star gazer" and then tout team rankings made up of stars.

asking people to be consistent isnt some huge ask.

if you dismiss rankings then dont come back touting them

without his interim record at USC and Ole Miss he never gets the job IMO

lol wut?!??

the Ole Miss gig was the ENTIRE REASON the fanbase and Alleva had their reservations about hiring him. it is the ENTIRE REASON Alleva was openly shopping the job to Fisher and Herman, because Orgeron had such little leverage, he couldn't take those overt gestures by Alleva as disrespect and say "no thanks I don't think I will accept the LSU job, I will go find a job where I am not plan C." He had to sit and wait while Alleva was turned down twice before getting the LSU job.

There has been a lot of contradiction by people when it comes to the recruiting rankings. Coach O himself said that he trusts his rankings over the services then turned around and said that we signed the #1 WR class. It's part of selling the program. No biggie IMO

There's nothing wrong with pointing out new recruits. The negas want to act like there's something hypocritical about it.

There's a recruit named Ali Gaye that people are bewildered by. This is one of those times that you trust the coaches evaluations. The guy is 6'6 and 270. He's extremely athletic. There's a reason that they like the guy and if they end up keeping him I would imagine that we'll all eventually find out.

Based on what? Posters have been providing stats and facts for why it was,

The addition alone of A&M makes the SEC, particularly the West the strongest conference, division in the nation.

Since 2009 the SEC West has been responsible for

Missouri won the SEC East two straight years.

From 2009-1019, the SEC West has had 10 teams in the NCG.

I believe the SEC East had a better record than the SEC west in 2005, 2006, 2007.

Yes. In 2017, LSU played four SEC teams who fired their coach during or after the season.

not sure what that has to do with anything...there were 2 more teams. I have no idea if anyone was fired in 2005.

2005 SEC had 6 teams (half the league) finish with losing records. 5 ranked teams finishing 6,8,10,12,14

2017 SEC had 4 teams finish with losing records (out of 14). 5 ranked teams finishing 1, 2, 4, 12, 16

I think 2017 would be tougher than 2005...tell me why you think otherwise

Yes who can forget the Ole Miss team with interim coach Matt Luke
the Florida team who fired McElwain
the Arkansas team who fired BERT
the A&M team who fired Sumlin
and the Tennessee team that, as an homage to 2007 Ole Miss, posted an 0-8 conference record.

"the SEC has been a bear since 2009"

nevermind the fact that LSU won a title in 03
Auburn got snubbed at 13-0 in 04
Florida drubbed Ohio St in 2006
LSU made it a 2 game win streak against them in 2007
Meyer won his second title in 3 years in 2008

but yeah, since 2009...

Roger. Please do yourself a favor and educate yourself on the nuances of recruiting, and the history of the sport. Then come back tomorrow and try again.

ben telling a poster to stop being a star gazer and then IMMEDIATELY touting a team ranking made up of ONLY star rankings. its hard not being a hypocrite when your only stance is putting O in a positive light with your opinions.
All of this. It’s a pretty interesting case study of mental gymnastics.

are you retarded. all the nonsense you typed kind of answers that question. Alleva probably continues searching had O not had a good interim record with USC and LSU...without that and ONLY having OM on his resume he doesn't get the job whether he was third in line or 10th...it's really not hard to grasp.

I meant no biggie that Orgeron used the rankings to sell his program after dismissing them previously. I've gone round and round with people on here about the ranking services. Either they mean something or they don't.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I am saying, when faced with adversity in 2017, it seemed like the O of old was coming out.

It reminded me of "Frank the Tank" in Old School. O has come a long way from his former self, and has done well to shed himself of his fiery disposition reputation.

But it seemed like for a couple months there when he was first hired he was about to come totally unraveled.

There was no argument. There was somebody just like you that mouthed off about something that they had no idea what they were talking about. Just like you.

they only don't when people don't want them to. but they do. make no mistake about it. Stars matter.

Calling O's interim record at LSU "good" is a big stretch.

I don't understand why anyone would dislike an LSU coach...

What an incredibly asinine thing to say.

I dislike Ed Orgeron. I disliked him BEFORE he was LSU's coach for completely valid reasons.

What is more odd would be to suddenly stop disliking a person because they decide to wear the same color polo shirt I do. Or are you suggesting you'd turn off your dislike for a person who had earned it simply because he allied himself with your favorite team? Seems...I don't know...shallow?
