In the bowl game?

Do we even have any DBs left on this roster?

I had this same question and was hesitant to post.
Does Harris have his sh** together?
Did he even attend class? I have no clue! Anyone know?

That’s why I was hesitant to ask. I thought you were probably right.

Toviano and Stamps are your starting corners with Hughes coming off the bench. Burns and Sam at the safety spots with Yaites, Allen, and possibly Kylin Jackson mixing in in nickel packages/coming off the bench. And that’s about it…

How bad was Zy’s injury? He hasn’t healed yet?

Toviano, Stamps, and Hughes at corner, plus Shea said yesterday on his podcast Sage Ryan hasn’t technically entered the portal as of now, he just announced it on X but hasn’t signed up.

Most of the Big Ten didn’t even try to have a passing offense this year and Whisky’s QB was still 8th in the Big Ten in yards and 11th in passer rating (>99+ attempts).

It won’t be the test on our corners that the SEC games have been. Still, I half expect their QB to have the game of his life and for us to squeak out a shootout win.

We could line up Maason Smith at cornerback and not see a drop off in production from what we got this past season.

JD5's dad wanted him to play corner. He's finished at qb at LSU. Let's see if he wants to try the other side of the ball.

Obviously kidding, but with his size and mobility, he could have been a hell of a corner.

Media got to watch practice this morning, so we should know whether or not he's out there. Good news that Sage is staying and will be playing in the bowl--forget next year, that discussion is for--and is being had--in another thread. We at least have plenty of bodies at corner for the bowl.

I'm sure most of the 15 bowl practices are relatively light as far as hitting goes--I know most coaches take that 1st week to go back to the basics and re-enforce fundamentals. But I do hope we work on tackling a decent amount, especially with the secondary as they are gonna be counted on to come down and help out in the running game.

We're not gonna turn into a top 10 defense in 15 practices, but if we can prevent those 7 yard runs from becoming 25-30 yarders because our secondary can't tackle, we should be in good shape. Good enough to beat a 7-5 Wisconsin, anyway.
