The rule says the out must be made before the runner touches the base. It does not leave the tie scenario up to the umpire’s whim.

Do you remember the Houston game a few years back? LSU was surely advancing and Paul made the dumbest fricking decision ever late in that game for them to beat LSU then skull frick LSU in the 2nd game to eliminate us. They had to beat us twice and they did so thanks to PM. That game was on him.
