MGM Park is beautiful, I wouldn't be opposed to the SEC tournament being there

I would be ok with a rotation. Hoover, New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, and Gwinett, GA

Hoover shouldn't even be in the rotation

There are seven MLB ballparks in the sec footprint, and three of them are awesome. There's an idea.

Too big. Crowds for each game average around 5,000.

All the pertinent cities are more alluring than anything in Alabama, and the tournament is Memorial Day weekend. While attendance may very well be an issue, your 5,000 figure won't hold here. Each game in one of these cities for a three-day weekend would average more than 5,000 locals.

Maybe, but not for the reason you gave.

Link?

ETA: Locals who are not followers of a college team don't go to college baseball games. But, even if average attendance DOUBLED to 10,000 (which it wouldn't), it would still be too small to justify the cost of a major league ball park.

People like to mention Memphis and Nashville, great stadiums, but they have practically zero RV space or hookups. The RV slots are huge for the tournament. The SEC sells out of them very quickly every year. There is very little chance the tournament moves to a park that isn't RV friendly.

There are a lot more fans who would enjoy staying at a hotel within a block or two of the ballpark rather than playing out in the middle of a suburban parking lot. Once they got a taste of it, the coaches would love it, too. That was the one thing the Big XII had going for it--the baseball tournament in OKC. Once the teams checked into their hotels, all the coaches had to do was tell the players when and where to show up--they didn't have to babysit them, or coordinate busses.

1992 was in the Super Dome. That must have been pretty cool to be able to hit up a game in downtown New Orleans.
