I’m so glad the bama game is on ESPN. That extra hour CBS extends games always benefits Alabama.

The difference is that Bama and LSU were both undefeated in 2019. Bama already has one loss this season. A second loss knocks them out. The SEC wants as many teams in the playoff as possible. We all know that an 11-1 Bama would likely get into the playoff over an 11-1 Tennessee, even though the Vols won the head-to-head. Finebaum said as much just the other day.

They knew LSU was the better team that year and we were the best chance for the SEC to win the title

There was no way for Alabama to finish 11-1. If they had gotten to 11-1 they would have been in the SEC CG so they would either be 11-2, in which case no they would not go to the playoffs over 11-1 Tennessee or 12-1 in which they would have been SEC Champions so yes they would have gone
