Seriously, why do we even run an RPO when 1 of the 3 options ain’t going to happen…Nuss ain’t running. It’s a terrible scheme because it doesn’t fit this team’s strengths.

I'm a former lineman...in the days before the passive blocking that is taught now. I watch the OL and what I see over and over...regardless of the play called ... is the first move of the offensive line is up ... which puts the defense at the advantage at the start. If you wonder why we don't have a great running game ... look at the passive line blocking ... stand up and try to slap a 300 lb defensive lineman out of the way. Laughable coaching and truly laughable technique. The argument is that's "modern coaching theory" ... the operative word is theory ... teach the line to knock someone on their butt.

I just think they don't get enough short yardage reps in practice.
Miles used to grind the line into the ground for 2 hours.

Coaching staff of our oline has no idea what they are doing. Just going thru the motions. It is obvious to anyone paying attention that these players have no clue what to do on many plays. Terrible technique.....bad hs ish really.

Thanks for the detailed answer

Obviously technique is awful but I also wonder if they’re even picking the schemes. Modern spread offenses only use a handful of blocking schemes in their offense instead of having Olineman learn every single play . Malzahn calls it the “living playbook” It makes it much easier to learn especially for young players and transfers. Can’t know for sure but judging by the way we check plays and signal plays in it looks like the old way.

I've seen many practice videos where Davis is coaching them extremely hard. Like he goes harder than most of the coaching staff. The fact they're still so soft boggles the mind.
Makes me wonder if someone isn't coming behind him and playing good cop, whether that's Sloan, Hankton, Atkins, or BK.

This may not be related but we do have players screaming at coaches a lot under Kelly. Is there a discipline issue?

You do have point.

Listening to Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn this morning talking mostly about head-scratching horrible play calling and all around bad coaching.

My two cents is that they pushed zone zone zone and wanted to run zone 100% of the time, but eventually realized we suck at zone and have now switched midstream. I must say that a lot of teams have had a lot of success over the years running just iz/oz but personally I hate it (for aesthetic reasons as much as anything tbh). One reason why I hate it is that zone blocking takes away from the "go get 'em" kind of aggression you want to see in O linemen - you're thinking about moving laterally and shite. This attitude, I think, bleeds over into the pass blocking, which we saw in spades on Saturday.
It is really difficult to overstate how bad those guys looked and how painful that performance is to watch. Yes losing Tyree was a huge deal and I think the game may have come out differently with him in there for 60 minutes. (Nuss played terrific although no one on the rant wants to admit this). But injury is just a fact of football life and someone has to pick up the slack.

I get so tired of people saying coaching. THE LSU RUNNING BACKS AVERAGED 5.4 YPC AND 5.3 YPC WHEN DENBROCK WAS THE OC.
Look at what Denbrock is doing at ND. Sloan literally had the older and more experienced version of the 2022 OL in 2024 and they looked like they couldn't run block. Here are some games where Daniels didn't get much yardage, but the RBs did, just to show you the stats aren’t always skewed towards his scrambling yardage.
2022
Florida JD 44 yards, RBs 155 on 24 carries
Arkansas JD 10 yards RBs 188 yards on 32 carries
2023
Arkansas JD 36 yards RBs 153 on 19 carries
Army JD 6 yards RBs 196 yards on 26 carries

None of our offensive coaches actually coach. they just tell the players what they should do, but never ingrain it into them when different scenarios occur.
I have never seen a less coached team ever. After this many games, the only thing we can surmise is that they have no clue what to do, so they just keep running the same plays, hoping the players execute better. That is as clear a path to failure as one can get. Don't we have to assume that if they knew how to fix/change the offense, they would? It could be that BK just keeps harping on blaming the players...again, a recipe for failure. And that is who BK is imo....a failure, a fraud, a loser and someone with any desire to preserve his ill gotten legacy, should leave LSU at the end of the season.

I don’t think “soft” is the correct term.
I think they are pensive, or unsure.
RPO is hard on an OL. They play like they are unsure of their assignments.
That is coaching, but more than the OL and technique. It’s more about the lack of offensive identity of this offense.
I blame the OC more than I do the OL coach
Pad level is an issue, and it happens when you overthinking your assignments
