Wilson has been the top-ranked recruiter by services in Louisiana for a few years running now. He's ranked second in the nation right now.
Orgeron beat out LSU for multiple coveted recruits when Ole Miss was a dumpster fire. There's a reason he has the reputation he does in recruiting circles (and why USC hired him as recruiting coordinator). My guess is that many of the hang-ups the staff has with hiring him have to do with some serious negative recruiting he did against LSU while at Ole Miss (well-documented).
