A team just wants to be in the top 8 at the end of the season so it can receive a super regional at home.....assuming it wins its regional.

Even that doesn't really matter since the polls don't determine the 8 National Seeds.

Our schedule is really good overall. And the OOC schedule is not a cakewalk either. Anyone that disagrees is wrong.

LSU has not been tested with a quality opponent or in hostile territory.

If you just keep winning the regional and super will be at home and you won't even have to worry about "hostile territory"

I think it's strange that they have FSU so low in that poll, especially after the way they drummed UGA this weekend.

Not to be an arse, but I've been following college baseball since Skip Bertman got here in the 80's, and I've probably heard that statement every single year since then. If there was ever a team that is up to win a title, it's FSU. But they have to stop choking in Omaha.

Ain't that the truth. The Buffalo Bills of college baseball.

I have a friend who has seen Virginia and FSU quite a few times the last few years. He said that both have a very good shot to make it to Omaha this year.

It's never surprising to see FSU in Omaha. They have more CWS trips than LSU.

Just don't ask them to win it all.

LSU should be number one right now. it is not a big deal at all to not be #1, but given talent and coaching levels of a team that is the defending champs... If that team is 11-0 with a schedule that isn't horrid, any decent methodology should have that team #1 over an equally talented uncrowned 9-2 team.

But that's what frustrates me about BA's college baseball coverage. Not that they don't have LSU #1, but that it represents a stubbornness to hold on to their preseason outlooks, something they do throughout their coverage throughout the years. Its a shame too, because even with that bias they are the most informed on college baseball.

Agreed. They are about as relevant as College Basketball polls.

There are probably 15-20 teams that legitimately fall into that category every year.
