Saban's last regular season coaching ended in 2004. Who do you think coached and developed the players in 2005,2006 & 2007? Certainly wasn't Saban.

04- USC vs. UCLA. If there would have been review at that time, UCLA would have won. A couple of fumbles by Reggie Bush that UCLA picked up and ran in for touchdowns. Refs say he was down but on the replays they showed he was still up when the ball was stripped from him.

but when you are the only Two loss team to win a bcsnc its really fricking lucky
So no matter who won the championship in 2007,they would've been "lucky?". What deserving one loss team was the "unlucky" team that truly deserved to be there?

Bad comparison.

- 2 losses vs 1 loss
- squeaking by throughout the year (2007) vs dominating opponents throughout the year (2003)
- Average SEC margin of victory: 10 pts in 07, 17 pts in 03
- 3 years from a national championship (2007) vs 4 years from 3-8 (2003)

LSU did need Boise St to win to avoid being screwed out of the NC game in 03. That's why you should judge a team by its quality and not by things it can't control.
How can you judge how strong the SEC is now relative to when Saban was coaching here? You can't. But you can look at the team on the field throughout a season and know damn well there are some serious problems with the coaching, no matter how many games they end up winning.

Saban, however developed the players that won in 2003, miles did not develop the player that won in 2007.

1st: I guess this means that Ricky-Francois, Trindon Holliday, Keiland Williams, Brandon Lafell, Chad Jones, Ciron Black, even Ryan Parriloux were just a bunch of Benchwarmers .

2nd: Nick Saban did the same thing, at the 2002 Sugar Bowl, he coached most of Dinardo's recruits. I think there might have even been a few on the 03 team.

3rd: Again Saban is doing it again, he coached Mike Shula's Alabama players to back-to-back winning seasons with one NC.

in 03 we just had that one loss and was better than any team in the nation i cant say that about 07

I can say it about 07. We beat the crap out of the number 1 rated team for the Championship.
Minus a chop block that took Dorsey out for several games, we probably would have been undefeated in 07. Unlike 03, a team that had very few injuries, theo 07 team was unlucky in that injuries plagued our quarterback, the only WR with experience, and both starting DTs.

Championships are made when preparation meets oportunity. Or something like that. We were prepared in 03 and 07.

A two-loss title requires extraordinary luck.

This would have been easier to understand:

quote:

However, the same can be argued about Saban's 2003 NC. In the penultimate BCS standings, USC had a comfortable lead on LSU (6.90 v 8.43) The Trojans were ranked higher in human polls and computer rankings and also had better strength-of-schedule ratings. The expectations was that USC would play Okla in the Sugar Bowl with LSU left out. But then Boise St. beat Hawaii. That's what happened. Combined with Syracuse's 38-12 pasting of Notre Dame the Tigers got enough boost to nudge USC by .16 of a percentage point getting Okla as USC was left with the Rose Bowl against #4 Michigan. So, despite the attacks on Miles that his NC was based on luck, if it wasn't for luck, SABAN wouldn't have won a NC at LSU. He was lucky just like Miles or any other coach or team. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Sometimes people forget the TRUTH and FACTS.

Why don't you give me the statistical analysis of the 1998 Tennessee Volunteers in a desperate attempt to somehow relate it to Les Miles being even a somewhat competent coach.

Oh noes, LSU got lucky in 2003 under Saban SO THAT MAKES MILES A GREAT COACH.
