How do we get better from here? Eight games in, isn't this who we pretty much are for this season? Why would it magically improve now?
No. It's 90% about the OL. And while it might improve some, it is about where it is going to be for the rest of the year.

10% on playcalling. We, rightly so, know we have 3 points with the ball inside the redzone. So getting too crazy is not an option. Sacks are not an option.

So, if we use the RPO more and wildcat more we can improve, but not a magic bullet.

My tendency is to be mad at Narcisse for leaving and wonder what we'd have in the wildcat packages. However, we are throwing in the redzone, and throwing into the endzone. You have to be accurate, and quick reads, as a QB. Narcisse was neither. So it is moot.

You get it my friend. Some think you can game plan the same for all

Yet we have more wins vs AP top 25 than any other CFB team including the #2 team in the country.

For context Miami leads CFB in least yards allowed.
Miss ST leads CFB in fewest points allowed.

UGA was a top 10 D before we scored 36 and had 475 yds of offense.

UF is top 10 in yards and points allowed.

Yes it needs to get better, but no team has played better defenses than LSU and it's not even close.

Some here would rather we throw ball all over the field. Like when Joe threw INT from red zone in first half

I was good with it in the 4th quarter. It was obvious they couldnt score on us and 3 was meaningful each time. We also kept the clock running by running the ball.

Narcisse????
Poor kid can't even keep the starting job on his junior college team at this point in the season. Somehow if he were still at LSU we are scoring points in the red-zone and/or beating AlaBama because of his presence???

wooooooooooo. boy.

Post-AU game we're throwing plenty in the redzone. Just right mix if you ask me; with Burrow, it is just the proper amount of risk. Mainly because he's above average on throw aways.

Other than using some more deception on run plays (keep pass simple) it's an execution thing.

To me, we might get push in gaps, but we do not "establish a new line of scrimmage" across a 2 or 3 gap front. We may have a crease, but dude is in the backfield next to it.

So you're bitching bc we forced turnovers, rattled their QB and out coached Kirby Smart.

Got it.

I think there is a point to be made about our red zone woes. In the last two games we have been in the red zone 16 times. Scored 4 TD's, 9 FG's and 2 TO's.Need more TD's !

Agree

We have had some success with CEH in the wildcat. Doubtful that Narcisse would be any better.

Agree, I think coaches are game planning different for different styles of plan we gave. Last night in that rain we needed to be little conservative.

I don't blame E for being conservative. Burrow was pretty terrible, especially in the first half. The game plan worked. Miss St. defense is pretty legit too.

They made adjustments. We had a little over 70 yds the 1st half and around 190 the 2nd. Some execution mistakes are keeping us from finishing drives and maybe they get that cleaned up in the off week. Getting the OL set and healthy will go a long way.

i didn’t read entire thread, so apologies if it’s already been said.

it looked like we decided not to push the issue. The weather wasn’t great for a good stretch of the game. And it became apparent pretty early tha State wasn’t going to score much (if at all).

so the game plan just became move the sticks a little, eat up clock and let Tracy kick. He’s not going to miss.

was it exciting or pretty? no, not at all.

was it a solid strategy for securing victory? absolutely.
