It doesn't to me. We know what Pearson is capable of at the plate.

Kling played a lot of SS in high school out of his teams necessity. Absolutely an OF at this level and the next level, but if he needs to play 2B out of necessity I think he would handle it just fine.

If you think this fall is bad, go check out last falls numbers for him. I don't think it means much. He seems to be a gamer and someone who just needs to be in the lineup good or bad this season. You know what he can do.

I had Braswell at 9/30 or .300 when I added up Scuba's numbers. You sure .375? Maybe I made a mistake.

Braswell has 30 PAs not 30 ABs. The original post matches with what I have at 9/24. He has 6 BBs go with his hits for a .500 OBP on the fall so far.

I'd imagine just about everybody throwing with their right hand played SS in high school that's on this team.

I'm sure Tommy will have a good season when he doesn't get pitched around. Teams really couldn't pitch around him last year.

Tommy is going to have to be more patient this season and try not to do too much. We all saw what it looked like when he pressed too much last season.

Hard to say Pearson looks comfortable or not at second but to date he hasn’t looked bad out there by any means. Obviously he would play second for the offensive production though as well as being another lefty in the lineup at the plate. This would also allow another bat/power to emerge in the outfield.
The Pearson or Kling to second experiment is about offensive production.

I mean, there were quite a few heroic moments that led to that run. Pearson's catch. Whites bomb. Floyd's start. Hurds start. All huge moments that we maybe don't win a title without.

Sure, but we knew Pearson could make great catches, we knew White could hit bombs and we even knew that Floyd and Hurd were capable of pitching gems (although Floyd's outing in particular was a step above a gem).

We had no reason to believe Ack could go 7 scoreless. Everybody going into that game, Jay probably included, was hoping he could get through Tennessee's order once without giving up a crooked number.

He reset our pitching that day and allowed us to have all hands on deck for when Coleman got attacked early on against Wake.

Kling to second experiment

Why on earth would we move arguably our best outfielder in terms of speed and glove combo to second?

Because we don’t have a 2nd baseman and have plenty outfielders. That’s why

CJJ is just experimenting. Now is the time. I think Pearson has played some at 2B this fall. All about finding the best lineup for Omaha.

I think Ackenhausen looks improved. He looks in better shape and has more command. I think he will be a bullpen piece we can rely on.

I would like to see more of Pearson at second, he has made several routine plays but I haven't seen how he handles DP balls or enough plays he has to show lateral movement to make.
While we are experimenting with infield options, I would like to see Jake Brown with a first basman's mitt since nobody has claimed first base, IMO.
Ben Nippolt is my front runner for second base if he can contribute offensively.

He could end up the number 4.

Stats wise just this fall Nippolt seems to be the front runner, but someone will have to step up if we want to make another run or one of the OF will have to step in. Nippolt is a great bench guy to play if you need him to, but I don't think you can make a run to Omaha with him starting.

I'd love to see something click for Guidry and have him at 2B with Braswell at SS.

Won the natty with that "massive hole" hitting bombs, getting HBP, and taking 10 pitch walks. I'd prefer to have LeMahieu, but I'd take Dugas.
