Some nice quotes from Frank Martin on Tremont

South Carolina Head Coach Frank Martin
Opening Statement
“We got totally outplayed, especially as their guards just totally dominated our guards. We lost in every statistical category. I’ve never coached a game like this today in where we got destroyed on the glass. They are too good. When you play a team like this that is athletic and as talented as they are and you have a point guard (Tremont Waters) like that who is that special. I am a huge fan of his. He is very difficult to cover. He is difficult to guard when you play well, and when you do not play well, you get embarrassed.”
On the difficulty of playing against Tremont Waters
“First of all, he is an unbelievable competitor. I do not coach Will’s (Wade) team and I do not really read what other coaches say about their team but I have a feeling that he is going to tell you that he is the leader of their team. That is just a guess on my part. He is an unbelievable competitor that has great instincts for the game. And in this day and age where you usually see guys dribble the ball about 147 times, he gets everybody the ball. When you cheat, he attacks you. But with the competitor that he is, yes, he is a very good basketball player, but it’s the competitive nature that puts him over the top. I think he is phenomenal and he is one of my favorite players in the conference.”
to Frank, always been a fan of his

That's strong praise. Now that he's starting to figure out where everyone is gonna be and what their tendencies are he should just continue to get better. In turn that will make the team better and perhaps very dangerous come March.

Aka Henry Rollins. Always liked Frank Martin going back to KSU.

Where can I read all the quotes?

Waters dominated that first half. It might not really jump out in the stat line, but he was totally in control and doing so much on offense.

I’ve been incredibly impressed with how Tremont responded to his early season struggles and how he’s adapted to having play makers around him. What a great kid

This is what made me smile the most. I never thought we could dominate a Frank Martin team on the boards. That’s where a lot of games are won.

We look like a totally different team from early in the season. Wade has coached them and they know their roles. Now they rebound and play defense, unlike their efforts vs the teams who beat us earlier.

I hope he wasn’t lying about what he said.

No one on there team could guard Tremont.
Our offense is totally dependent on dribble penetration and on ball screens...USC couldn't handle this with Waters in the game.
Offense stagnated with Smart running the point because he can't get by his man off the dribble as effeciently.
When Smart is at the point we need to run more of a motion offense with off-ball screens.

People need to come out and watch him. He’s the best all around PG LSU has had since Chris Jackson.
Yes, he’ll have some bad TO’s sprinkled in, but he makes this offense run. Once he gets in the lane defenses are F’d. He can either score it himself or set up a teammate for a good look.
If there is a better PG in the nation, I haven’t seen him yet. If you want to know how LSU is a top 25 efficient offense look no further than Waters. He the engine

Although Tremont may have a tendancy to take too many chances with cross-court passes, etc., he is a phenomenal player who really has no major weakness. He is great on D and constantly stealing the ball, he can shoot from anywhere even with a guy in his face, he can drive anyone to the basket (no matter how tall they are), he can dish it off and create points for LSU when driving and he is good at free throws.
After Wade got his attention by letting him come off of the bench, he has been great.

Did anyone dare ask frank about how he checked out last night?

It was interesting to watch him in the second half. He sat the entire time staring at the floor. After the game he shook hands with Wade and got to the locker room with the quickness.
I bet he told his team 'I have nothing to say to you guys. Get on the bus. We practice as soon as we get back to Columbia.'

He also had a few timely steals.

Absolutely - I'm sure he was as frustrated as we were with his start this season. But I can remember Hunt Palmer saying at the time "if the biggest problem right now is Tremont Waters, then we're going to be fine, cause he's going to come around."
He has.

Unfortunately smart is not much of a ball handler
