Over the past 20 years:

5 NCAA bids
3 NIT bids

2014 makes 4. This season was progress as Johnny Jones continues to build up this program from almost nothing. Look at our records the 3 seasons before he came here. I know we all expected to make the NCAAs this year and are disappointed, but the future is very bright.

Not pumping sunshine here. Just found those postseason stats very interesting. Made me appreciate this season a little more.

Honestly...I want to win...big time...but more important...the lack of focus and hustle, smart press defense and horrid rebounding upsets me more. That is pure effort and should be demanded by the coach not begged for. And when you don't get it, you put someone else in....

Johnny Jones gave up on this team about mid way through and that concerns be greatly.

I am tremendously concerned. There is no excuse for this team not being better than last year.

Losing is one thing, losing whilst looking the way LSU did in most losses is the bothersome part.

Agreed. This year was more than a little disappointing and I'm afraid it belies the fact the jones probably won't get it done at LSU. Does not seem to have it.

I love how some of you have thrown in the towel on Johnny Jones and he is in his second year still. He has one group of his recruits on the floor.

Nitpick all day saying it's not that we lost, it's how we lost. People say that every single time we lose a game. Better talent makes for better coaching. Give the man a chance.

How?

We finished exactly the same way as last year, the only difference being that the NIT selection committee picked us this time.

You act like other coaches would not have done more with this roster.

Getting the program any type of postseason exposure is an improvement right now. It's gives the younger guys a taste of it and a little more experience heading into next year.

But you talked about how Jones built this program out of nothing, yet Johnson left after LSU made the NIT using two players that Jones still heavily relies on.

Which is it?

I said "continues to build this program out of almost nothing". Yes Trent made the NIT his final year but can you even compare the state of the program then vs now? Look at our current talent and where it will be next year.

Y'all aren't hearing me. Nowhere did I say I was happy and satisfied to be a perennial NIT bound team. I can't help you though if you can't see that our program is heading in the right direction given our current state of recruiting.

My only point was that getting back into any type of postseason tournament only furthers our program.

Does talent matter if the results are the same?

Of course not. Did I give Johnny Jones a 10 year free pass?

I'm simply saying use your heads and don't give up on him before year 2 is even over with.

Who is giving up?

But to blindly say that the program is heading in the right direction without any results to back that up besides recruiting rankings is beyond foolish.

There is definitely a cause for concern. If LSU doesn't make the tourney in year 3 under Jones, then that concern should turn to panic.

Someone in this thread actually said Jones "doesn't have it" and won't get it done at LSU. So yes, people are already giving up on him.

It's not blind faith to have the opinion that with another year for our young players, infusion of some serious talent, and some post season experience that next year we can improve more as a program.

Look at my OP. LSU does not make postseason play very often. The fact that we did this year, to me, is progress.

Calling the NIT the postseason is like saying you had sex with an OT10 when you really just got a handy from a transgender hooker.

You're right. I wish we had been left out altogether. That definitely would have been better.

Is that what I said?

I just don't think making the NIT should be considered progress when we did the exact same thing 2 years ago with a team that had basically quit on Trent.

Ok, yes, it's technically the postseason so that would mean that my analogy would work if you actually had sex with the tranny.

Yeah, it's sex, but is it really the sex that you wanted to have?

Indeed, it's not like we had a better resume this year.
