Anyone think the NCAA will go to a new system were an extra week is added and you would play 3 game series to advance to Omaha? ESPN announcers were talking about it last night and it seems like that would be good for college baseball.

I hope not, I like the 4 team double elimination regionals.

As in we walk through the regionals letting our stud take the week off, or only pitch a few innings to stay loose. Nothing major.

Making him skip a weekend would probably be more of a disservice to him.

Skip and the ESPN guys were saying that 3 game series are what teams are built to play since thats what they play all year. It makes sense, but the thought of playing a 3 games series vs. what would be a 4 seed in the current regional format just isn't that compelling.

Let Sewald start, load up the bases, then put Berry in to give up a Grand Slammy.

Berry gets pulled, leaves the game with a perfect 0.00 ERA and continues his climb to the top of the NCAA record books

Then again, I might be drunk.

Exactly, the format doesn't always produce the best team, but it's the most exciting.

Would not like that super matchup. No doubt in my mind we would be seeing Miss St if that pairing happened.

I think it could happen and here's why:

32 first round sites, 16 second round sites, and 8 third round sites = 56 opportunities for the NCAA to make money.

Now we have 16 regionals and 8 super regionals = 24 sites.

The NCAA is all about the $$ and it would give them a chance to "level" the geographic baseball landscape by allowing more northern teams like Pittsburgh or Indiana a chance to host a round or two.

Granted 2 out of 3 is how the weekends are set up now. But do you really want to see a 2 out of 3 series vs. Jackson St, UL-Monroe or Southern in the first round?

Maybe in a year in which we aren't a #1 seed.

ULL fans are salivating at this prospect. A chance to upset LSU at the Box in a Regional. Not saying this would happen because ULL is a young team but it is Baseball and Stony Brook showed us anything is in the realm of possibility in Baseball. Oh the horror if this would happen being an LSU fan living in Lafayette.

With the way our guys have been hitting the ball, I would really enjoy going to a regional in Baton Rouge. They are leading the country in home runs and are really dangerous and fun to watch if you are a Cajun fan.

Stony Brook was 10X more talented than ULL is.
