It really is. At least she won't be working the Baylor game and will be on 3rd for her next game.

His hitting philosophy overall just makes for a lot of inconsistency. Lot of travel ball coaches I know have thought he's been Beth's problem for a while because of his style. I'm no expert but the way it was explained to me is he coaches hitters to hit off their front foot and if everything isn't timed perfect they're often off balance and either miss or mishit the ball

Florida appears to recruit a different type of player, bigger, pitching, and offensive.

LSU seems to recruit pitching and defense.

I don't know the back story but on the softball forum a lot of people were posting about this, not that it couldn't be successful but it can be extremely inconsistent at times. I mean no doubt we have improved a lot under Dobson and Torina compared to before, but there has been a lot of inconsistencies on the way as well. Even with Bell, Kloss, and Simmons we would see major stretches at times of us just completely lost at times and shut down.

Also mechanically it reduces power a bit from it. According to many travel ball coaches

I am not saying start firing people but maybe we need to reevaluate what we do offensively

Yah look I'm no expert, but one of my good friends daughters is a pretty big time pitcher in 2020 class and they're from Hattiesburg and when Beth got Dobson he told me then he didn't like the hire for these reasons, and others have said the same. And ever since he's been here we have stretches where we tear the cover off the ball, then stretches where we can't buy a hit. As far as I understand it's supposed to give a hitter more power, but only if everything lines up and is on time.

UCLA's pitching coach Lisa Fernandez has been suspended 2 games for contact with an official earlier today.

Here is the problem with LSU hitting........

There is no visible mark on any of the hitters, as they compare with each other, that shows that the batting coach's philosophy or techniques.

Out of respect for the batting coach, we have to remember this guy is coaching a bunch of girls who are pretty set in their approach to batting, and i mean the whole system they each have. The mindset, the approach, the stance, the weight shift, the step, the arc of the swing...all of that...these girls look DIFFERENT from each other.

Florida is a SMART hitting team. Walton doesnt need to tell them when they should let the ball go.. and we only have Bailey and Sahvannah at that level.

There are some things that these girls should not have to be taught. Jaquish and Landry truly KNOW the game, and i cant say that for the rest.

I doubt next year's team will be as good as this year's, and this year's team is a cut below Florida, nothing to be ashamed of, but it means there is not much of a chance that Carly and Allie will win a championship.. like Marino never won a Super Bowl. Same thing. Too good to not have won it all, but it is what it is.

The issue with this approach is your asking for X Y and Z to be perfect every time to be executed beautifully. It just won't work like that.

I'm just confused what happened to Doyle. I know not everyone had strong freshmen campaigns. It's a MAJOR adjustment at this level. But she has faced a lot of pitchers this year from her travel ball years and completely took the cover off the ball against all of them when in travel ball. Now she looks a bit hesistant with not much confidence at all.

I've watched Doyle play for years and she always was an extreme confident hitter who has shown she can hit against the very best. It's just a little disappointing not seeing that player now. When she players to her capabilities she will without doubt be an All American type player.

I will say this with Springfield too. I know her swing definitely kinda holds her up really at the plate but even early on, some of the pitchers she faced were pretty damn good, a lot of NCAA tournament teams she knocked the cover off of. I remember her taking a pitch at her shin then smashing it over the center field wall. Now she struggles a lot with pitches lower in the zone and seems to have a little trouble getting a read on a lot of these pitches.

All I am saying is what we are doing isn't really working or translating with most these girls.

But BH3 I do recognize everyone's stance, swing and approach is completely different.

I don't think Dobson has ever changed anyone's swing coming from travel ball

Watching Baylor-Oregon. Man, the umpiring this WCWS is horrible. Totally incompetent. Totally inconsistent strike zones and the base umpire missed an obvious force out at second that led to Baylor's four-run rally in the fifth. Also, these umps need to define and properly enforce the blocking-the-plate rule. I don't blame Fernandez for blowing her top.

Incompetent umpiring is not incidental; it's greatly affecting the outcome of games.

The super regionals were bad but damn is disgusting how this is the biggest softball stage and this is the best we have?

Umpiring continue and continues to get worse every year. Something needs to be done. Is it that hard to ask for decent and consistent umpiring

On an optimistic note, we can handle either of these teams, especially with the winner having to turn right around and play us.
