I think 1 or 2 slappers are ok but last yr you had Daniel, Hodge, Coffee and Laneaux essentially the same hitter..

Combined with below average base running skill sets

I'm not blaming Kylee either. My daughters cheerleading pictures from this past season are the same way and I absolutely hate them. I'm hoping my wife replaces them with her basketball or volleyball pictures.

Daniel needs to be in the lineup, maybe batting leadoff. Her short game is pretty outstanding. She is definitely the best bunter on the team. And toward the end of the year, she had a few doubles swinging away. She hit one off the center field fence vs Arkansas, so she definitely has some pop in the bat.
Defensively, she was very solid at 2nd, maybe a little above average. WAY better than McKee.
One of the few bright spots of the regional was Hodge at short. She made all of the plays. But she had a few too many errors during the year.
Quite curious to see how the infield looks. Daniel doesn't figure to be part of the 3rd base situation. She was part of the disaster there last year when Coffey got hurt. I have no idea if either Edwards or Hodge have ever played 3rd before.

I agree that you could have too many slapper in the lineup. Most I ever had was 3 and I batted them 1,2,9...
When I ran into teams with more slappers than that, seems like they would stall when bases were loaded. We played one of the top 6A teams one year who had 7 slappers.... they got 13 singles, but only one run because they would get 3 in a row and then it was a lot easier to throw home on a slappers ground ball. The irony is that the one run was a leadoff homerun by a power slapper who started 4 years at A&M... we lost 1-0.
Funny with my 3 slappers, my 3 hole hitter was also left handed, but slow. We taught her how to run through a pitch acting like she would slap. Infield would come up and then she would sit back and drive a line drive through the infield. We could do that once per game and against teams that hadn't seen us.
My opinion is that there has to be balance between the slappers, power hitters, and line drive hitters.

And I concur with your opinion, 18handicap. It's all about balance but different coach's idea of balance seems to vary. I too employed 1,2 hole slappers and often a 9 hole slapper but depended on my personnel and quality of personnel. I get the impression folks question the quality of personnel sometimes in the LSU lineup and some employ a 1 slapper as a leadoff only (and preferably a triple threat) then hitters with varying degrees of power. That certainly seems to be the hitting coaches views as they are almost anti-slapper at this point.
A good, well trained slapper with a variety of weapons I've always found to be invaluable in the lineup. If you stack your lineup with nothing but power hitters we will soon hear about how other teams can manufacture runs when the bats go quiet or when facing a dominant pitcher and LSU can't because of the lack of speed and athleticism. Seems to scream that you need balance.

Doesn’t seem to have the natural assets to be LSU’s next Livvy Dunn.

I definitely would keep Daniel in lineup but if things keep going the way it looks I doubt she will be in lineup unless DP'ing for pitcher and they typically want a banger to DP. Edwards and Hodge will stay on field I'm sure. Hear they are looking to add another infielder as well and Beth plays her portal kids. That leaves someone the odd woman out: I would venture to say that will be Daniel unfortunately.
As you state, no way Daniel moves to 3B and I don't see Hodge as a good 3B position player either--she needs room between her and contact to be effective. It will either be the next infield add or Edwards at 3B is my guess. Sure they'll add an outfielder as well.

Not sure I agree with all of that statement Casual. Some significant distinctions between at least some of those you list. All lefties for sure, but:
--Laneaux NEVER slaps and has more pop than Daniel or Hodge by noticeable margin
--Coffey slaps, but with power that Hodge or Daniel don't have and she swings away solidly with some pop that Hodge or Daniel don't have
--Agree that Daniel and Hodge essentially same "kind" of hitter. Daniel more effective and consistent than Hodge but no real consistent pop although she's touched the wall a couple of times, and Daniel about the same from power perspective. Both short game kids.
I think they get frustrated when they don't perform in situationals such as runners on 2/3 with less than 2 outs, when actually they probably should have been pinch-hit for in those instances when critical.

preferably a triple threat
I had to teach my best one how to read the defense to best use her triple threat skills. Too many times they are like robots and depend on the coach to make the decision for her... I made mine make the decision for themselves and they learned to read the game even better. A triple threat is a great weapon to create havoc on defense.
And yes, each coach has their differences in their exact beliefs on what's a perfect balance. I would think it's easier for a college or travel coach to achieve the balance they want since they get to recruit their players, while is HS coaches get who lives in our zone. My travel ball teams sometimes looked completely different than my HS teams.
You made some great points.
That's also why I rarely question coaches' decisions here because we all know our teams than anyone from the outside. I don't necessarily agree with all decisions, but I'm sure if I'm the head coach, other coaches would scratch their heads at my decisions.

Great, won’t matter with Beth still there

What I meant is they are all singles hitters for the most part..very few extra base hits vs the total at bats
