They don’t even have that.

LSU is last in the SEC in team batting average. And it isn’t even close to anyone else being the worst hitting team in the SEC

The top 7 teams are all hitting .350 or better

The top 13 teams are all hitting .308 or better

Missouri is a distant 14th, hitting just .284

LSU? .263

Abysmal

LSU is hitting 45 points worse than the 13th ranked team in the SEC. Think about that

Bergeron actually got a hit this weekend and drove in 2 runs. She must know all Torina’s secrets to continue to hit in the 3 hole while hitting barely above .200 with 12 RBI’s almost half way through the season. Meanwhile move Daniels, who is above .330, moves to 9 in the lineup.

If anything, Daniels should be batting first.

At least she used the intentional walk tonight. Maybe she does read Tiger Rant!

I’ve talked about this with some of my coworkers for years now. No power with too many slap hitters. A lot of the perennial powers have some big girls that can really hit and may not move as well as the little twigs for LSU but it’s a small field and can still be covered by less mobile girls. Guess what I’m trying to say is, I’d give up some of the defense for offense because those little girls are no match for the top tier pitching.

Have you watched this year's team? They only have 2 lefties in the lineup (Hodge and Daniel).

I agree the players and coaches and admin could care less about how we feel about the production from softball. I agree they should not care. This board is full of nut jobs. If you as a fan do not think the players or coaches care you are just plain disconnected with athletics. You are dilussional. They do not need to satisfy us. They just need to fix the issues that they are having. If you do not think the coaches are trying to increase pitching outings, increase batting averages, and cutting down on errors. Team chemistry is a hard thing to coach, it is not automatic. It is a yearly gamble. I coached High School sports (baseball and football) for 30 years. Chemistry is not easy with guys, cant imagine how hard it is with girls. I will also say this for all the ones that actually think Beth is going to be fired. It will not happen. We can not even fire and hire a new Basketball coach because of the money. Any softball coach that LSU would hire would come with an increase in money. It is not happening anytime soon.

Great post!!! My point exactly , coaches don’t change what they do especially when they are successful through their careers!! What does change is team chemistry and the kids you have and their willingness to accept coaching!

I can agree with that for sure, but also we as coaches have to tweak and adjust as society changes and keep faithful to what made us successful.... while the my core beliefs on how I should run a softball program never changes, I have made adjustments throughout my career because of changing talent and society...

If was funny that the son of one my former softball players from the 1990s was a teammate of the brother of one of mine from 2018-22. Those two were at a football game at the same time and had a conversation about me... comparing and contrasting me from 1993 and 2022. They both saw many things that were the same, but also saw some differences... one said that I was more vocal about everything in the 90s and the other said I wasn't very loud, but she knew I meant what I said and wasn't going to cross that line. It was funny to hear both of them tell me about it.

I honestly think that coaches have to adapt to the changing game and players to continue success while still keeping focus to the strategies and beliefs that made them successful. I don't know if the college coaches do that or not and I would be curious to know.

smart coaches always work on weaknesses and evolve and improve their own game and learn how to troubleshoot. They self examine and meet with assistants to get their take on how to solve problems also. Smart coaches learn from other coaches also. i have been coaching almost 20 years and it is very fluid. The changes and styles and rules with pitching alone has been wild to say the least.

I’ve watched them a couple times but I mentioned over the past several years. They still need more power hitters.

The incoming class has a bunch of 5’10-5’11 bigger body kids , the California pitcher/hitter is maybe the best in the country 5”11, CF 5”11, another hitter/pitcher 5’10, Texas kid 5’11 per LSU Daily News

What gives you hope that Beth can coach them up? How many times have we seen players who are fantastic hitters in high school come to LSU and suddenly they are garbage at the plate? I had hoped that bringing Bryce in might help, and we did hit the ball better last season, but our pitching was terrible. This season we struggle in both areas. Beth has been given the money and resources, but she still has no championships of any kind. How much longer do you give her? I hope that LSU does not renew her contract after next season and at least tries to go in a different direction. This program is stale.
