The rant has tried firing Johnson countless times this season and McMahon has not coached one game yet.

The rant wants everyone fired

I'm not the type where I think coaches should be fired for simply not winning a national title or making OKC/Omaha every year. That to me is unrealistic expectations. The gripe with softball (as of now) has merit. It is 5 years removed from a trip to OKC with the resources we have and continue to trend further away from getting there.

There are clear issues going on right now with the program that go beyond "youth". We are seeing too many kids regress or not get better between years. Changes have to be made and that isn't up for debate. Torina should not be fired for this one year alone but she needs to adjust her staff as the current approach is not working. They have tried making internal changes in terms to how they coach with the current staff the last few years and it clearly isn't working. I hope Beth makes the necessary changes (staff changes) to remedy some of the issues. If she continues with the same old path its not going to end well for her. I like Beth and I hope she figures it out, but this is the nature of coaching of high level sports. Either make changes to produce or eventually be out of a job.

It always about talent. What else is there? Talent and winning,no other choice. Top talent and you don't win, then you don't really have top talent. It's not rocket science.

Like any other sport, coaching and development matters…

Sunseri was an all American as a sophomore. Look at her as a 5th year senior. What happened? She stopped being talented?

She had talent, then she didn't. What else could it be?

SEC Softball is a crazy sport. Lowly Mississippi State takes out the national 2 seed, but Bama, UT, and Mizzou can’t get out of their own regionals.

If Washington beats Texas again it will give the Pac 12 5 teams advancing to Supers. What is it with the Pac 12? Players? Coaching? Style of Play? Whatever it is we need to copy that here. The SEC has made up some ground but still behind the PAC 12 in overall play, IMO

I was told to look at the softball Facebook and parents of players are taking shots at other players... I found them... I hate this

Yeah I noticed that earlier. I saw Pleasant's dad go after Clark for her defense. Kilponen's dad was also getting in on it as well. One players aunt was going ballistic as well on others.

Just not a good look for anyone involved, even if the comments are true. That has to be incredibly awkward between teammates.

All of the girls made mistakes, which is why I can't fathom how any one of them could be telling off another player

Parents have started crap like this before and then it causes a rift on the team... I've experienced it in my career and it ain't pretty.

Yup that can't be good for anyone. Most the girls seem close and really enjoy each other. There is absolutely no reason for a parent to air those comments on a public platform, it does absolutely no good for anyone and it just pours fuel onto the fire after a very very rough season.

For the players sake I hope none see or hear about it.

This could make a few disgruntled players leave. It could have been going on enough before now to explain the play we
have been seeing.

When the going gets tough they eat their own. I remember internal issues dating back to the Bailey Landry, Hoover, Jaquish days.

Always seems to me to have been an internal issue with the chemistry and the way the players reacted to the staff. Lots of favoritism in the line ups at any given time. I read on this board over and over, "oh the players love such and such coach". I'm not convinced even remotely that this is the case. Lots of tension between player and staff in the program and has been for a while.

The portal is the way in today's game and if LSU doesn't jump on that train it is going to get infinitely worse than what we are seeing now.

The other thing to consider is LSU softball is an importer of talent program. LSU competes nationally in the programs where the state produces talent (football, baseball, track) or where we have a dynamic personality coaching (WBB). Beth doesn’t have the advantage of either of those. The state rarely produces top talent and Beth is great, but not flashy in the way that Kim is. I believe SW will go out and find a personality that can attract players to the state.

I would like to see Clark strictly DH next year and give Gutierrez a shot at full time 1B, that is of course if she doesn't hit the portal. I know Raeleen didn't exactly take full advantage of her chances at the plate this past year, I still think that she has the sweetest left handed swing, second only to Pleasants' imo, and her defense has been excellent.

Probably could use a little more muscle on her tall thin frame though.
