This is an intriguing consideration...

New Orleans is going to pay $6 million/year for a backup??

i can't believe no one has mentioned arizona. arizona's qb situation is embarrassing, probably more so than the jets, and this year is a bad year for QBs in the draft,

Vikings would've been real contenders with flynn imo

Carrol didn't want Flynn,

wasn't carrol's decision. Seattle's GM gave the command. flynn never had a fair shot. he needs to be traded.

For him to sign a large contract and lose the job to a rookie doesn't help his case very much. He may get a look somewhere but his days are numbered unfortunately. There are a few teams with needs who could use him but he is a 5th year backup with little game time exposure. Not many guys last this long as a backup without having started at least a little bit somewhere. Whoever has a need will likely draft a QB or trade for a potential starter. I doubt anyone sees him as that guy.

He could start for someone Greaseball. Some team will take a chance on him.

i don't think the vikings are ready to quit on ponder just yet. i feel like he gets one more year to prove himself. while he still has a long way to go, he improved a ton from his rookie year to this year, and there are still worse starting QBs in the league. flynn is still guaranteed 2 million after his 6 million dollar signing bonus and the 2 million he made this year; however, if the seahawks keep him, they'll owe him 5.25 million next year. i'm not sure what the deadline is as to when the seahawks have to make a decision on him, but it will be interesting to see what the jets, raiders, chiefs, cardinals and jaguars decide to do in the draft. however, this draft is really bad. the top guys are nassib, geno smith, barkley, and tyler wilson. i can't really see any team wanting to make one of those guys a rookie starter except maybe barkley. the rest of those guys are system qbs.

Face it, Flynn is a backup QB, he is not a starting QB in the NFL

if guys like curtis painter, david gerrard, kevin kolb, mark sanchez, christian ponder, jake locker, matt cassell, blaine gabbert, matt moore (i could go on forever) can be startng quarterbacks, flynn can at least have a shot somewhere to see what he's made of. a backup nfl gig isn't the worst thing in the world, and flynn makes great money; however, you don't have to be peyton manning or drew brees to be a starting nfl quarterback.

should be basically Flynn and Alex Smith on the trading blocks before the draft.

my gf is an insane vikings fan, ive watched every game for two years. i agree with much of what you said but ponder is like LSU; for every incredible play he makes, there are three where you just sit there mumbling "frick".

adrian peterson is closer to the end of his career than the beginning, it would be foolish to waste these years hoping the light goes on for ponder.

i admit this could be the LSU in me talking, but I think Flynn can be an all-pro.

You must have a rich daddy out there in the Woodlands. 19.5 M over 3 years sounds pretty good to me.

Arizona and Kansas City both need QBs, right? The draft isn't that great for QBs this year either. Hope Matt gets a shot with one of those.

I think he'll get cut and picked up with a cheaper contract. And nobody knows if Flynn is a flop or not. Russel turned out to be an amazing player. He is in the same league as Luck and RG3 and I'm not sure half the QBs would have been in any different a position than Flynn.

Like the man said ... New Orleans could use a good backup.

And dropping $6MM on a back-up ain't squat ... we already drop $20+MM on a starter (who is kinda like CLM ... i.e. cannot be criticized)

yeah, yeah ... I kid ...
