I’m guessing he’ll fully take part in spring practice and not play a whole lot of baseball until it’s over

He’s on football scholarship so I would think that would be where he spends his time unless the coaches arranged something else.

Pawl was going to sit down with O after football signing day and discuss a plan, but the #1 point to remember is that he's here on a football scholarship and very likely is a starter in the fall. So, I'd expect him to be missing some (not all) baseball during spring practice.

From what I hear, baseball team is subpar this year. He’s going to focus on football

He has to be on football scholarship if he wants to play both his freshman year.

Yup, thank the bear for this rule. If you play football and any other sport, you'd have to be on football scholarship.

If I remember correctly, Chad Jones was starting and had to go to Spring Practice and lost his spot in the outfield. He came back to baseball and went down to the bullpen and became The Dreadlocks of Doom... and the rest is history.

we need a CF. he goes to football and he probably will have lost his job (if he in fact gets it) when he returns. tough shite but that's the way it goes.

Point of order: I think he HAS to be on football scholarship according to NCAA rules if he's a two sport athlete receiving a scholarship and one of the sports is football. It goes back to football being a headcount sport (i.e.: 85 individual full ride scholarships) and baseball being equivalency (i.e.: 11.7 total scholarships to spread among the squad). If you're a football player and receive any athletic scholarship, I think you MUST take a football spot. The idea is to prevent schools rhyming with "Shmalabama" from signing 85 football players and 11.7 baseball players who happen to be the worst baseball team ever, but are amazingly (and totally coincidentally) good at football.

I don't know the particulars of this situation, but just because he has a football scholarship doesn't necessarily mean football is his first sport, though it's highly likely it does given the value to the team of a scholarship spot in modern college football.

There’s plenty of us on this site that think CPM should be relieved of his duties after this season. It is possible to support the team and want a change of leadership at the same time.

If he is going to really give baseball a go, then it make no sense for him to leave for spring ball. He already starts the season behind because he misses all of fall practice. Then, after a month playing baseball you want him to step away again for another month? Doing that all but assures he can’t be a reliable contributor on the baseball team. So why even attempt to play baseball?

I would think the sport in season takes priority and practice football when you can?
