Scheme will put you in position. Execution will win you the game. This LSU team excels at both.

What is less focused today is LSU's D versus Clemson O....perhaps we'll have good success
against Ohio State, the Buckeyes were committed to pressure and Clemson's offense didn't adjust the entire first half. rather than going with shorter passes and getting rid of the bad quickly, Lawrence was left holding the ball waiting for the play to develop. I hope they do that again.

Venables is the second highest paid DC based upon production. His defenses have been in the top 10 for the last 9 years.
He lost 6 players to the NFL from last years team and yet his defense is again in the top 2 in scoring, pass D, etc. He totally transformed how his defense played.
If you want to go with CU doesn't play anyone, in the last 5 CFP semi final games his teams have given up an average of 13.4 pts a game
To put him in the same conversation as Steele or Lanning is uninformed at best.

14 teams have tried to stop LSU’s offense... 14 teams have failed... 15 won’t be any different...

What nobody seems to realize is Ensminger and Brady will have the same amount of time to thoroughly study Clemson’s defense and find all of the weaknesses to exploit.
Exactly. The door swings both ways. The coaches involved have plenty of time to come up with the best plan possible. But it doesn't matter how much time you have to prepare, game planning can only go so far. It comes down to who has the best players and who makes the best adjustments in game.
Clemson will come out with a great game plan I'm sure but LSU has faced every DC's best shot. Some DCs actually had some success early until LSU made adjustments.

Venables is very good....is he heads and shoulders about everyone else? I didn't think that.
People thought he was good enough to replace Aranda a few weeks ago.

Clemson has a real good team. But I just don't see how they can outscore LSU. The LSU D has improved a ton since the Ole Miss game.... Yet nobody is talking about how they can stop Clemson. I think it's a blowout myself.

It's time you start paying attention. Serious.

They have to find something to talk about for 2 weeks

And who’s to say they may slow Joe down to just 350 and 5 in the first half.

Exactly. They have enough film on Brady to come up with a game plan. They know what to do to stop it or at least slow it down. But nobody has the athletes to implement it.

So what do you think joe burrow is doing right now ? Watching film and practicing! We have seen this before no one has stopped us all year and Clemson is not going to either when they see what they are going up against in person they to will get overwhelmed!!

There is no answer for LSU’s offense this season.
They are as close to an NFL offense from a college team I have ever seen.
Venables already knows it.
Only thing left to do is sit back and enjoy.

Greg McElroy fathered Venables’ child when he was like 10.
Maybe Brett should take a break from football to find out why his wife sleeps with children.

After Clemson beat Bama 44 to 16 last season, Venables became a God. However, with that defensive line Clemson had last season, it didn't matter who was the defensive coordinator. The outcome of the game was a foregone conclusion.
The truth is this year, with the single exception of only Ohio State, all of Clemson's opponents have been cupcakes. Meanwhile, Ohio State had over 500 yards of total offense on Clemson.
The truth is LSU has played and beaten better defensive teams than Clemson already this season, and LSU will inevitably destroy Clemson in the title game.

Venables’ D got abused by OSU, and it took a WR frick up at the end of the game just to survive.

Clemson fired Kevin Steele, now at Auburn, to hire Brent Venables because he was more successful defending spread offenses.
100% of Clemson fans are happy we did.
OSU had over 500 total yards against us but only scored 23 points, which was 26 points under their previous scoring average - eerily similar to your game with Auburn.
That being said, we have never faced an offense as good as yours.

If Venabkes isn’t the best DC in country then he is easily top 2-3. And yes he is head and shoulders better than 90% of other DC’s and it’s not really close. If any of my fellow LSU fans want to try and downplay how good he is they are either being willfully ignorant or know absolutely nothing about college football. There is no reason for us LSU fans to try and belittle him and his accomplishments. Burrow is heads and tails above any other QB so it’s a great matchup

The notion that Auburn slowed down LSU is an urban myth. Auburn didn't slow down LSU, the piss poor soggy field conditions and resulting super conservative play not to lose play-calling are what slowed down LSU. LSU moved the ball at will all over Auburn for 508 total yards.
