He has 245 dropbacks since it's 218 attempts and 27 sacks. There are probably more where he scrambled and it turned into a run.

But I digress... his sack rate last year was roughly 11%, the same as this year. The offensive line is presumed to be much worse this year, but he has the same sack rate.

You could argue that last year he was brand new and cautious which is why he had so many sacks. But if he is now behind an inferior offensive line, his sack rate should go up some and would've stayed the same if they got worse, but he improved with experience and not hanging in the pocket so long. I don't know that many would think that he's improved in his pocket presence very much.

Is it a fluke that the sack rates are the same? He's the common denominator between last year and this year.

I'd love to see the kid gloves come off and for him to take a few chances. Then we could find out how good of a QB he could be in the future.

7 TDs and 3 INTs.
Over 6 games that's pretty gawd-awful considering our WR talent.

JJ's a long strider. It takes him a while to get going when he runs. I think that causes him some sacks. Couple that with he has a pretty slow delivery. Those things will cause sacks.

One thing I noticed late against Fla. Even though he was taking a beating, he was making some throws. There were 3 or 4 drops late in the game that could have really helped out.

The coaches need to let this kid go and let him know that if he throws some Int's that it's alright. As many have stated, I think they have drilled home the point of not making mistakes to a fault.

How many times did JJ get sacked against Georgia Tech?

The answer is two ... along with 4 sacks against Ole Miss and 4 against Arkansas.

100% the offensive line's fault. We won't see the real JJ until he has Whitworth, Faneca, Mawae, Peterman, & Oher blocking for him.

JL sack's would have been much higher had he not had so many INT's, heck he might even still be the QB.He by-passed the sack phase for INT's. Atleast JJ's taking the hits and he isn't fumbling the ball for the scoops and scores.
yeah, i know he's got to improve, but ,at 19 he should be a RS Fresh holding a clipboard taking notes from a fifth year senior.
LM priority is the WEST, he just wants to get him to get into the West games whole, and with some confidence, but a lot of people are trying to stop him.
It's true, the coaches should see what he's best at and use him those ways, i.e. rolling, and he finished the Georgia game well when in a rythym like offense.

So it's ok that JJ is young but not ok to use the same explanation for JL last year. We are to wait for JJ to get better and learn how to throw, but you aren't willing to give JL a chance to see if his decision making has gottne better.

Like I keep saying, if we fell behind in a game and needed to pass to win, I would take my chances with JL any day.

He was still very inaccurate even on that last drive. If RR doesn't bail him out on that one throw then were 0-2 vs UF and a shitty UGA team.

Well, it will last as long as this coaching staff does, which may be longer than this season, but I wouldn't count on it being MUCH longer.

bullshite. JJ does not even know what a pocket is, let alone how to stand in one. When he scrambles, he runs straight into the pressure. And he apparently expects 2-3 days of protection from the rush before he decides where to throw it.

The offensive line isn't great by any means, but Jefferson is more to blame for the sacks than they are.

Pretty darn great considering the poor play of the OL and lack of any defined pocket made by them as pointed out by writer after writer. Funny, how only some fans haven't noticed that yet. Most fans have....the writers have...the coaches have...Scott and Hebert have.

I mean, seriously, how many 4th-down sacks does JJ have in his 8 starts? Does he have 16, as in the number of picks J. Lee had in his 8 starts?

Wow ... great stat. How many 4th downs has LSU run with JJ at QB? I believe he had 2 sacks on 4th down on Saturday.

The only problem with seeing people with larger number of posts is that they don't seem to have learned anything....oh wait, I'm wrong on that! I'm probably just using you as a measuring stick so maybe it isn't the number of posts made that make you appear intelligent on this board but whether you actually know how evaluate talent and know squat about football.

In that case, my sympathy to you, but I'm safe.

I was being sarcastic. Tomm wants to blame the OL for 100% of JJs problems when apparently he took 10 sacks in 3 games last year with a better OL. I agree 100% with everything you said FWIW.

lee threw for 1800 yards last year. JJ is on pace to eclipse that FWIW

Lee did that in 8 games as a starter. JJ won't be close to 1800 after 8 games.
