Regular season schedule in the SEC, and 5th ranked in the nation, we would have to get through Georgia and Alabama twice to win a national championship in 2018.

Georgia will most likely win the SEC East meaning a rematch in Atlanta should LSU make it there. And a one loss Alabama always gets unfair acceptance into the BCS or playoffs, meaning facing the crimson tide a second time should LSU win the SECG.

LOOKS LIKE A REPEAT OF AUBURN'S 2017 season. However, Auburn failed to beat Georgia twice.

I realize that the chances of any of this coming to pass for LSU is basically zero, just needed to identify the reality of the size of the task of winning a championship in 2018.

I'd like to see if those 4 teams with more difficult schedules, have four preseason top 10 teams. I'd say no, without looking.

We could lose to GA as long as its the first game...

But good point, as it stands, we will always have to beat AL twice to win a Championship.

I’m really looking forward to the schedule. This season has the potential to be a lot of fun.

Basically have to go 12-1. Maybe 11-1 with one loss to Bama who wins the West.

This isn't an excuse man. The LSU fan base has become pussified. Unless there is a day when LSU doesn't play in the SEC it is always going to be a tougher road than most to the SEC championship. That's just the way it is, and you have to win the games you need to win to get there.

If Orgeron can get it done, great. If he can't, then LSU should find somebody who can. The mind set of there being zero chance just because the schedule is tough is weak.

Get over the obsession with Bama being unbeatable, having unfair opportunities, and go out and kick some arse. It is what every fan should expect.

Dude let's just hope we get by Miami first before thinking like that.

A one loss LSU could bypass the SEC championship game and could still get a shot at the playoffs depending on how other conferences shake out. Our schedule being tough actually helps in that scenario. That would mean we only had one loss out of Miami, Bama, AU , UGA, UF , Msst. Hell 4 of those will likely be top 10 when we play them.

If LSU makes it to the SEC Championship game, I'll be ecstatic. How about we let them do that before we start worrying about if LSU has to play Bama again in the playoffs.

The crappy thing about our schedule is that we'd have to beat Georgia twice. That wouldn't be easy.

We've done it before. I still remember clearly how positive those tv guys were that we were going to get killed by Georgia.

No one is demanding, or even really expecting, a championship in 2018.

But going 10-2 to virtually guarantee a NY6 Bowl is an absolute must if this season is to be seen as a success and anything better than what we were still getting pretty much every year under the previous coach that was fired.

Who is saying we have "The most difficult schedule in the nation"? TAMU has Clemson OOC and we have Miami. I agree we're top 5, but not THE most difficult.

I seem to recall beating their arse twice in 2003. It's not unprecedented if you have the right coaches and talent in place.

LSU 13th, AU 4th and TAMU 5th

Football Scoop-

AU 4th, TAMU 5th, LSU not mentioned as they only covered the top 5.

Athlon (SEC Toughest Schedule)
LINK
TAMU 1, LSU 2, AU 3

So anyway, I haven't found anyone saying we have the toughest schedule, not even in the conference. What are y'all talking about? It's the SEC. We play one good non-conference team and then we play the SEC. Sure, we get UGA this year and they're good, but there's always a team that's good. Big deal.

You have nothing to worry about since you’ll be losing 4-5 games. I just don’t see it this season with this LSU team.
