I agree with the OP but giving up 50+ points in your biggest games is a real cause for concern.

Cotton or Gator Bowl. I'd be happy with that. Has anybody forgotten how excited we were when LSU recieved an invitation to the Peach Bowl in 2000?

I have an issue the way we lost. I also have an issue with the way CLM seems to be ignoring the fact that his choice to hire within in regards to the co-DC is the reason our defense is getting shredded. If Miles is going to be stubborn in regards to his selection, then we can official say we have another Gerry Dinardo on our hands. We are stuck for the rest of the season to watch this crap but we will see what kind of coach Miles is after the season to see if he will take ownership of this mistake.

How is it that LSU fans will always boast how strong and talented the SEC is and yet when they get embarassed by two of the strongest teams in the SEC by 30 points it is unacceptable.

How is it that hard to understand? We didn't just lose. We got woodshedded. Twice.

For me, at least, it's never been about the final W/L outcome. It's been about the failure to dominate against much weaker teams, the failur to close out a 21 point half time lead and the failure to show up to two contests against UGA and one against UF.

It's also been about the failure to correct mistakes. Case in point - these D Coords ARE NOT WORKING. Will anything be done about that this offseason?

I don't disagree with you, but I think we have to look at the whole picture...than put it into perspective.

BTW: Don't forget to include ND fans when you mention delusional. You guys have been living off of media hype for 15 years.

ND fans have been pretty silent the last two years after we got beat up two straight BCS games (and all those bowl games since the 93 season). Nor has there been a lot of griping from ND fans for being unranked at 5-2 (I dont think that ND should be ranked at this point as they lost to a mediocre MSU and UNC). As far as media hype, I will refrain from addressing this for fear of a hijacking of my own post.

SEC Championship is out......even if we beat Bama, they have to lose again. I just don't see Auburn beating them.

I completely disagree. Florida embarrassed us, ala UGA in 2004. The UGA game was different though. We lost by two td's (Lee threw two td's to the wrong team). Completely different.

The fact that Miles does not conduct his personnel reviews in public, and does not share his thoughts about his staff's shortcomings with you, is not a rational basis for criticizing him.

i dont think its the losses that bother the fans... we expect to lose a few with an unproven quarterback, but we do not expect to allow 50 points..

I'm starting to like your viewpoint Ericdb. Agree 100% Plus we are not like ND or Auburn who make no judgement on issues that are easily in the coaches power to fix.

Great post NDdomer!

Sadly there is a faction of "LSU Fans" who did not like the Miles hire & have gone about attacking him no matter his accomplishments.

it's not just the losses. it's the way the losses have gone down and how abysmal the defense has looked in every game this season. it has people worried about the future if miles doesn't correct his mistake with the co-dc's

Lets say he listens to the Rant and demotes the def coordinators. What the hell is he gonna do? Hire somebody mid-season and pray it works? Now, if Miles doesn't make some defensive changes after this season (barring an unprecedented defensive turnaround) I will bitch.

you will not get a response to this from him.

btw, I don't get why it's so hard to understand that either.

People can keep their head in the sand and just keep blaming Jarret Lee. This season is looking more and more like 1998 when LSU would score 30+ points but lose because the defense was so bad. Even if you take away the 14 points Lee spoted to Georgia the fact is LSU defense gave up 38 points. Great defensive game there.

Same goes for Georgia, right? I guess that means being a top ten team, you have to have a defense that gives up 3 points and 127 yards each time out.

Florida found out a few things about their team against us. They are in a class by themselves right now, and that goes for Texas too!

I don't care if the fans are right or wrong about the defensive coaching. An idiot can get 50% of their decisions correct based on flipping a coin.

However, it is just plain wrong to make a decision about the coaching based on half a season with inexperienced players at DB and LB--just plain wrong.

I said on another post basically what Martians just said: what exactly do you expect him to do? Who worth having could he replace the current Co DCs with? What message does it send to the DCs you will be courting at season's end if you can them mid-season. What good does it do to throw them under the bus publicly?

If they are on the sideline next season, then we can bitch. For now we have to see what happens.

As for the "we're getting smoked by Bama" posters, please take a valium and STFU. LSU was very close to making it a one posession game with about 5 minutes left. They cut to a 4 point game right before half before one of the many INTs killed the momentum. Technically, UGAs defense gave up more points than LSU's did (I would blame the O for 17 points). I love defense, and the big plays that the D has given up makes me sick as well, but the UGA game was not a blow-out. The Bama game will be better than people think.
