And the sad thing is that our school admin and athletic admin let it all happen with little to no concern for what LSU fans wanted or want.
This deal inevitably means more Saturday night home games.

Why are y'all letting ballcaster troll you with deflections and strawmen? He's a little bitch that does this on every board. He most likely never attends games.

Other than the bye week prior to the last game, what benefit do we get?

The benefit is getting screwed by the SEC and a newbie to the SEC. Tell CBS pick another game for their Fri. or Sat. contest and put the game on SEC network.

But if they demand scheduling the game at that day and time, we (LSU, Joe Alleva) should have done the same for our home game.

Should have put up a fuss...shouldn't have agreed with A&M to guarantee their home game day/time until the Saturday night at LSU was guaranteed.

Could have made our night game A&M's issue in the process

This is all anybody is saying. I don't care when A&M has their home game but if we agreed to them calling their shot then they should have agreed to Saturday night at LSU.

Not the way it works. Demanding Saturday night home games just isn't on the table

How was CBS taken out of this all together? Odds are sooner or later LSU vs aTm is going to be the headline game of that weekend and CBS just gave up rights to it every other year? I find that hard to believe just to uphold a tradition.

Why does CBS not care about televising the LSU/A&M game when it's in College Station, but when the game is in Baton Rouge, "WE MUST LISTEN TO CBS AND PLAY THE GAME WHEN CBS WANTS IT"?Don't know. Don't care.

If you can't answer this question then gtfo of the thread. You know what the answer is.

I can't say any more plainly that the television contracts between both the NFL and CBS as well as the SEC and CBS determines which games the network gets to choose, whom to air, and when.

You're a fricking idiot... He is asking why did CBS just fricking give up all rights to air LSU vs aTm every other year because the game is on Tday.....Jesus Christ.... Do you not get it, he is saying aTm told CBS frick you you can't show our game on Tday because it interferes with the NFL contract. LSU on the other hand sits and waits for CBS to tell them to break out the sunscreen for a black Friday 1PM kickoff.

I think Joe Alleva is a good AD. I hope he sticks around for the foreseeable future.

I guess I still don't get it. The SEC says yes to aTm for the thursday game. Once that happens, CBS is really out of the picture. LSU does not want to host on thursday, so the game is saturday. If it's on saturday, CBS can pick it or not. No?

You still don't get this.

Here's a bit of advice for you: when you don't understand something and other people do, those other people aren't trolls and little bitches. They possibly are intellectual superiors. Treat these people with respect. Learn from them. Attacking them is childish and silly.

Aggy has a home thanksgiving game because it isn't important to anyone to deny them this request.
LSU does not have guaranteed home Saturday night sec games because it isn't important to anyone to break a contract to give them this guarantee.

It's that simple. If it is important to you, the problem is yours (this clearly is the case).

THANK YOU!
CBS can dictate game time on Thanksgiving Friday/Saturday. Because A&M got the Thursday game they wanted, CBS won't be the network to air the game, and thus can't dictate when it is played.

Pretty much, LSU/Alleva (if we still have him) needs to put up a hissy fit when the CBS contract expires in....10 years.

Until then, gonna be hard/impossible to get any true guarantees for Saturday night games.

What you don't seem to get is that the main thrust of the OP's thread & the follow up comments by Tiger fans is not that LSU is demanding all games in TS be at nite. We've never had that except back in the pre tv days. What the main bitching point is the home A&M game being played on Thanksgiving Night. Period.A&M asked that their home game that wkend be played Thursday, & as you note, there was no real objection & their wish was granted. LSU has asked that our home game that wkend not be on Thanksgiving Day & it appears LSU has no sayso whatsoever.

The SEC gets to tell the network what day of the week a game will be. The SEC (and LSU) allowed the 2014 game to be on Thursday, and the SEC (and A&M) allowed the 2015 game to be on Saturday.

Once the dates are set, the networks' contracts become important. ESPN will be broadcasting SEC games Thanksgiving Thursday, and will probably pick the night slot for the 2014 game. As CBS has rights to Thanksgiving Friday and Saturday, they will probably put the game in the day slot so they can put the Iron Bowl in the night slot.

The SEC isn't directly screwing LSU. The network is. When the SEC/CBS contract expires, LSU needs to pick a fight with the SEC to have a stipulation regarding LSU home games on Saturday. The SEC will need to make sure this stipulation is in the TV contract.

From the first post:

when it's played in Baton Rouge. What a frigging worm, heard this morning on 104.5 him trying to backtrack and blame it on CBS. I really can't understand how A&M can demand their home game be played on Thanksgiving night (Never will be on CBS), but ours is subject to the whims of CBS. Other than the bye week prior to the last game, what benefit do we get?

Joe Alleva never had the power to guarantee a time for the game. Only the day of the game. The stance he is backtracking to is the correct one. See my rationale above.

We don't really get any benefit other than the bye week before the last game.
