We're not 100% sure anyone on this team will ever play again. But from all accounts there is nothing structurally wrong with Smith. I would bet he doesn't play summer ball to heal up but I feel pretty comfortable with penciling him in as healthy for opening day

Smith looked rough at SS, Hughes will only get better. There isn’t a need to shake things up unless someone proves to be that much better than Hughes & we have to get him into the lineup at 3B or 1B

Bryce will DH

Slaughter plays first

Experience is a hell of a thing in college. Did you watch Oregon State last week?

you have a loaded offense, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with playing the best defensive SS and giving up 40-50 avg points.

I agree. But I think Smith can get damn close to Hughes defensively and still make up that 50 points. It's all a matter of philosophy at that point.

I can see Hughes and Squints making it opening day, I just can’t see Broussard in the line up when we’re healthy....

Bregman looked pretty rough at short his first year too. I think Smith will be fine

If you’ve got Smith and Hughes playing, give me Smith at 3B all day long. He was so good there. Hughes was a great SS. Better than Smith.

Broussard was our leading hitter before his injury

Broussard was our best hitter for 2 months when he was healthy and you want him benched? docTQ4... going to remember to never take you seriously

I actually would prefer Smith at 3B and Hughes at Ss from a defensive standpoint. But you can’t completely forfeit any offensive momentum by having Broussard and Hughes in the line up together given their body of work.

Jesus Christ. Stop. The season doesn’t start tomorrow.

I wouldn't be mad at either scenario but I would be willing to bet we see Smith take the first fall starts at SS.

Experience favors Hughes at SS. Fwiw. Even though he’s younger.

.260 BA/ .333 OBP/ .306 SLP
That’s really a stat line to write home about chief. Didn’t hit for average, didn’t hit for power and didn’t draw a lot of walks..... so since we’re throwing insults at each other now, remind me to always bet against a baseball line up you set.

He. Was. Hurt.

He was hitting 360 before he hurt his hand.

Hughes is gonna be a good one. Let him go to the wooden bat league this summer. He was hitting much better down the stretch. He is your second baseman.

I think Garza will have to be in the batting order at DH or 1B. He is an absolute masher. I think Cabell takes over in LF for Beau.
