How likely is it the returning players and possible transfer portal guys could keep the unit from being a major weakness?

Ward and Burns and Sage at the safety/nickel spots Id assume.

If McGlothern back, he'll be one corner. If hes booted from team.... we will need some transfer corners to be counted on as starters.....

That’s what I’m wondering.

I can see a good chance that every other unit on the field will be improved next year. Except maybe linebacker, but I think its at least possible that position could be at least as good as this past year.

So I’m wondering if the secondary will be the unit that keeps the team from having a chance to contend next year.

Just trying to get a head start on where to set my expectations for next year

Not sure anyone can answer this until we saw what comes in and what goes out in the portal.

Rumor is he cant overcome habitual tardiness....and BK aint having it.
Thats why he missed bowl. Its been said he may be removed from team permanently....but I hope not

Pig was raw and talented. If he works and improves, he has a shot at the NFL. With a name like Pig, broadcasters will always be mentioning his name.

Evans is out of eligibility. He only had one year left when he transferred for 2020, but then he got an extra COVID year. Regardless, I don’t think he’s the answer against SEC competition.

Guys we lose this year:
- Stingley (CB, draft)
- Flott (CB, draft)
- Ricks (CB, transfer)
- Evans (CB, out of eligibility)
- Cole (CB, out of eligibility)

Others of concern that missed the bowl:
- Jones (CB)
- McGlothern (CB)

Unknown:
- Harris (S, technically has another year of eligibility since he took a RS in 2019 and 2020 didn’t count)

Right now it’s looking like we are going to take a brutal hit at CB next year. Safety should be fine.

Habitual tardiness is a small problem compared to other possibilities (academics, weed, etc.). Hopefully just trying to send a message to him. I would expect him back with the team if all he did was be late a few times.
