quote:reading comprehension my friend. Nowhere did I insinuate Garrett would have similar success to Nall. I simply used Nall as an example of someone who also left LSU for NSU and turned out to be successful. The point was to illustrate that not ALL players who transfer to 1AA schools are no-talent hacks as the poster insinuated. There are plenty of talented QBs in 1AA and lots of reasons players transfer to 1AA, (not having to sit out a year is one of them.)
It is also completely ridiculous to think that, just because Nall succeeded to that level, Garrett will.

That was never the issue.
The issue was why would such a talented quarterback transfer to Northwestern State University? If CG was so great, you'd think he would choose to transfer to a more prominent FCS school. A school that wasn't coming off a winless season. And a school that was competitive against its peers.

So a former LSU coach being there has no effect on his decision in your opinion? He just went there because he sucks? Just trying to clarify.

Shows your intelligence - - can't even spell and use trashy language in the post!!!

Wish him luck and hope he has as much success at NSU as all the other successful players from there!!!

He wasn't a SEC caliber quarterback. He saw the handwriting on the wall and asked to be released.
Neither was Nall, Davey, and Booty when Dinardo was HC.

Was he really that bad?
when you're not even considered for playing time over Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson anchoring one of the worst offenses in the country....yes, he probably wasn't very good. Not saying he won't develop, just stating the obvious. I wish the kid the best.

Maybe he wanted to transfer to NSU so he could lead the team back to respectability? Its not hard for a coach to sell 'we;re just one player away' and 'you will be an all timer in NSU history' to Garrett. Combined with the fact that Les yanked his scholly, it might make him feel pretty good.
If he had options to go to another BCS school, I don't know why he wouldn't take it, but he made his decision and he is going to have 4 years of eligibility in a league where, if he works hard, he should dominate.

Was Peveto here while Garrett was here?

Garrett quit to go to NSU??

Didn't he ask to be released?
that is LSU's spin. The report was he received a certified letter informing him that his scholly wasn't renewed.
That's the way Saban does it!

McNeese and play for a championship.
We have QB's. No thanks. Gotta transfer QB for this year and hopefully Wes Briscoe works out. He seems to have the talent to do so.

Garrett doesn't want to sit out a year and be a 4th year college student before ever getting a chance to play. It is completely ridiculous to insinuate that b/c he transferred to a 1-AA school that he has no talent.
He's not going to start this year at NSU, fwiw. He'll probably be 3rd string there too.

They were trying to light a fire under this kid's arse because he was way behind everyone else.
..obviously the kid chose the easy way out and asked to be released.

Just because your scholly is pulled doesn't mean you are kicked off the team. He could still be a walk-on. I'm sure the staff would have loved him to stay.

ever heard of Craig Nall?
Craig Nall was from North Louisiana dipshit. It was a natural move for him to go Div II and play close to home.
You know, if he sucks so bad, why wouldn't Les just release him totally and let him play for Miss St?
Should have never offered the guy unless he was legit. Why aren't people talking of how this Staff gave a half arse qb a scholly?

More like "So Garrett wasn't good enough for LSU so he ended up at NSU..."

Especially at schools that have such outstanding QBs playing and tons in the development stage.
We are close to USC in that department. People freak about our QBs but we got 2 Jr QBs that have a full season of experience each and a future 1st round draft pick on board for at least the next 3 years.
Miles and Crowton along with our new offensive coaches are going to surprise us all. The spring game was nothing but holding back our true passing game potential.
