Any reason to think it won’t be stellar?
Yeah, a little thing called the MLB draft.

Someone who essentially started all of '21 is not young (Crews, Tre, Gio, Dugas, Cade, Alex, Thompson, Berry).
This is absolutely asinine… when you’re going against teams like Tennessee and A&M that have seniors and super seniors all over, playing 1 season is definitely still young. Just bc our guys were really good last year and immediate stars, doesn’t suddenly make them experienced upperclassman. You’re essentially making them a victim of their own success.

The pitching sucked. We just utilized them well.
It didn’t suck. They just used more of a pro model with a stronger back end, and shortened the game that way,
The defense certainly did not help anything. Extended innings constantly

Yes we were. The core of our team was true sophomores and freshman. Just because some of them are really good doesn’t mean they are not young.
The staff was old and just everyone that had a role is draft eligible
Berry doughty & Dugas all draft eligible. McManus & Jobert are old.
Morgan & Crews were two of the 10 best players in the SEC last year as freshmen. They weren’t expected to have growing pains, & didn’t
Overall there was a missed opportunity here with the lack of dedication to defense by jay johnson.

Being draft eligible and having played 1 season does not make you old versus young. There’s so many things juniors and seniors do better than younger guys just purely based on experience in certain situations, plate discipline, etc. just because a kid is really good and played a single season doesn’t make them incapable of maturing to be even better as they get older.
Pearson
Crews
Morgan
Berry
Thompson
Floyd
Money
Dutton
Taylor
Stevenson
Cooper
That’s a young core of players tbat were being asked to have prominent roles on a team with a few vets in there

You are just making excuses now.
Josh Stevenson hitting like arse in his 1st season can be attributed to being young.
Kids that were all American as a freshmen do not fall under the same umbrella. These kids performed for the most part, anyway, Age or youngness was not a detriment to this team.
Furthermore, the roster is about to have a huge turnover. Again, not the sign of a young team.

You are getting talent vs age/experience confused, I am sorry this is so hard for you. It’s not an excuse, it’s an objective fact. Being a true sophomore in collegiate athletics is, in fact, young. Just because you may think of them as being 3-4 year vets doesn’t mean that’s reality.

I’m looking for guys that solve the issues this year. Jobert & Dugas don’t not help defensively. I think Thompson can, but it won’t be at SS.
You can come into next year again with 3-4 guys in the field that should be DH’s.,
Exactly.
Errors only tell you so much.
We were slow and unathletic too. We lacked range in two of the outfield spots and up the middle in the infield. We didn’t turn many DPS. We had a lot of passed balls and wild pitches that better catching could have handled. Framing pitches needs to improve.
Our pitchers didn’t help by fielding their position either.
In the field there’s a lot that we could improve.

Why would you have been excited for this year?
Duh, because we had a new coach.
We would see new things, a new approach and a new energy.
Any baseball fan should have been excited.

Grade classification is not nearly as relevant as it used to be. Especially when dealing with guys that were already retuning starters & guys that are draft eligible sophomores.
Pitchers don’t care if Jacob Berry & Dylan Crews are sophomores. You are using this as an excuse & it has no validity. shite even on paper it shows a good mix of both

How am I using it as an excuse? What am I excusing? Some of those players are awesome ball players but they can still grow from years of experience and get better at certain things. I’m not saying being young is WHY we struggled but that doesn’t change that it’s a fact and we can get better as those core players get older. You’re treating it as if those guys have somehow already reached their peak at 1-2 seasons playing college baseball. Reads on balls, plate discipline, pitch recognition, clutch hitting. All things that “young” players usually improve on as they get older.

I say at a minimum we will be hosting the regional next year and most likely the super regional.

Well, you either think age was a factor, or not. You brought it up, not me
I think this team had issues but age or lack of experience was not one of them
