If I follow the logic of PM being LSU’s problem and needing to be fired for underachieving
CPM took over a program with 5 baseball national titles and every program advantage in the world and won one national title

Corbin took over one of the worst baseball programs in the entire country and won their first two titles in school history for any sport .

Can you see why CPM could be considered an underachiever and Corbin an overachiever?

“The game has changed. It’s not the top program.”

That’s right, it’s not, because CPM has lowered it. Using “the game has changed” as an excuse is nonsensical because it hasn’t just changed for us.

So CPM takes over the best program and makes it not the best

Corbin takes over one of the worst programs and makes it the best

Yet, Corbin is underachieving

These people have a myopic focus to defend at all costs and it makes them blind to a comprehensive discussion.

CPM is not a horrific coach. But he isn’t a great coach either

I used to say that he was second to none when it came to setting up a defense in the field. I never thought he handled pitchers great, he was ok sometimes but he’s always been one of the worst offensive baseball coaches I’ve ever seen. The talent has been elite so a lot of seasons we’ve been able to overcome 2/3 bad areas but lately our defense has continued to slip a bit and situationally he’s always been bad as well so it’s becoming more apparent.

If PM had the players Vandy has had and we sucked then I’d be right there with you. It’s not defend at all costs actually. It’s being able to see things for what they are and not what you’ve made up as the standard LSU has to be at forever. If you go back and look at PM’s records when he took over through now you can’t make an argument that he ran it into the ground or lowered the standard. The fact is Skip had several advantages that no team will have anymore. The playing field is even and there’s a lot of baseball talent out there. Time to wake up to the present day of college baseball. That doesn’t mean accepting mediocrity like a lot of people try to imply.

Not me, I've been saying it for years. All the "Lesticles" Mainieri suckers have already started covering for this blank. What a joke.....and you expected something different?

Bye, I guess? Did you say it in 2017 as well or for all the SEC championships?

That pretty much sums it up. The way I look at it, a W-L record of 41-15 will get us a national seed while 40-16 probably won't. We just lost one of our 15 allowed losses today.

Same shite different year. PM is going to lose a lot of games early in the season because he will tinker with his lineup until he knows who the best guys are. LSU fans will bitch because of said losses because well um in the 90s we never lost period.

What you cant argue is LSU as a baseball program(under Paul Maineri) is still one of, if not the, the most successful programs. I am not just saying this the numbers back it up.

Its game two people and fricking baseball.. Jeebezzus

Also people using Vandy as some sort of pinnacle are funny. And they actually have built in advantages too.

Yeah they appear to be really good again. They almost swept Miami this weekend but start the first series off with 2 losses.

The purple and gold kool aid is strong when you mix it.

You conveniently left off what happens after Pawl gets done tinkering.

fricking nothing of note.

Yeah rose colored glasses when almost no other program has done what LSU has. There’s very few. That’s not good enough for you because of the 90’s.

More than almost every other program in the country. The resume speaks for itself.

So we’ve become a program that hangs its hat on winning midweek games more consistently than a lot, not all, of programs.

Great

No we’ve become a program that has had more success than just about every other, even under PM.
