I coached at a 5a high school in Louisiana and we easily defeated a 5A Texas defending state champion. Texas high school football is overrated.

there's no chance the best players graduated before you played them.

I don't think he will have much of a chance to play at LSU with the other guys here and the ones coming in.
Prediction: Both Harris (Don't care what he just said about not transferring) and McMillan will transfer after 2017 Spring practice...........

Meh, never know how a player is going to develop but realistically there is about as much chance of McMillan ever starting at LSU as there is that Lindsey Scott would start, which is not much at all. Just happened that those two were sandwiched in between 4 much higher rated recruits. With Harris and Etling coming in right before them and Brennan and Narcisse following right behind them.

We were just in bad need of getting some QB's signed at the times and those two filled a couple open roster spots. Would be great though if one (or both)of them broke out into a big time player though but the odds are stacked against them.

I stopped reading after it said that Etling was a good deep passer and that Harris wasn't lol.

This. that author has no credibility concerning LSU football. Even the casual fan knows he has no idea our guys strengths & weaknesses.

Lots of generalization in your post. However, I see louisiana teams (outside of the top 4/5 teams) beat Texas teams every single year.

How is this possible with the scheduling conflict between TX and LA

Maybe you dont get it. Once these guys sign, how they ranked will be irrelevant. Once you get on campus you start to wonder, "why was that 3 starnot a 4 star" (or 4 star, not a 5 star). Coaches are not going to care what you were ranked, but can you play. Then you find out whether, and to what extent HS performance was a result of level of competition. Remember, Canada didn't offer any of these guys at Pitt. He certainly wont care about rankings.

I agree that the rankings may drive "fan expectations", but that's it. The only expectations that Scott or McMillan will defy (if either wins the job), is the lofty expectations which fans develop cause of rankings. Coaches will forget about the stars and look at the work you do on campus.

Well you need to stop talking to them or ignore whatever they tell you. He has already played a down at LSU. They are either liars or very stupid people. Neither of white should be cited when trying to make a point.

I agree with that and didn't meant to imply that star ratings matter to the coaches. Just that once Harris and Etling leave, Scott and McMillan are going to have a hard time beating out Narcisse or Brennan for the starting QB job just due to the talent level Brennan and Narcisse bring. But the best case scenario is that Scott or McMillan develop enough that one of them wins out so that Brennan or Narcisse aren't thrown right in to a starters role out of necessity.

Not sure I disagree with the article. Yes, Harris has a stronger arm. No, he is not a better deep passer than Etling. Although he has to put more air under the ball, Etling's touch and timing on deep passes seem better than Harris's. He just fired it out there and prayed or so it seemed at times.

They are all in for a fight. They each have strong points that the other may not possess. Incomers will find two QBs on the roster who were wayyy under rated, and under recruited.
