We know who Skip is. Do they?
But yeah he’s head coach and AD emeritus… give him his pass and his close parking spot to the stadium, fly him out to Omaha if we make it, and take care of him… all national championship LSU coaches should get this treatment, even Saban, Les, and Coach O…

With all due respect, Skip is only marginally coherent at this point. Have you heard him on interviews and podcasts? He's a legend and is respected as such but his current decision making isn't assisting Jay.

He's 86 years old. He isn't helping CJJ with day-to-day decisions.
skip has been setting lsu lineups since 1984

They play on a field named after him. Of course every person who has anything to do with LSU baseball knows who Skip Bertman is, and what he's accomplished. How can some of you be this dumb?

buy Jay has openly admitted he and Skip talk regularly, so I'm sure there is some advice being tossed out there when they speak.
I’m sure Jay is just soft tossing him some questions for advice. Skip has been retired for over 20+ years. He’s not offering analytical advice to the team.

Kind of dumb if you don't listen. You don't have to take any advise, but at least listen. Managers talk all the time with their coaches.

There was a video of Skip talking with Guidry posted within the last week or so. Don’t recall where I saw it or if it was dated nor was there audio, but looked to me like an in depth baseball conversation based on Skip’s hand gestures
Cool video. We need a lip reader!

I caught “so the number one thing you can do … get to the next batter … you can rotate it …”

These players were mostly born after Skip coached his last game…

And yet I know who Lou Gehrig and Joe Dimaggio were.

Fair enough. That just seems like a theme on TD with PM and now JJ. Very possible I jumped to conclusions.

This is what Guidry was saying in his dino walk. I cant make out what he is hollering

Pretty sure Skip is privately helping CJJ with his decisions, imo.
So we should blame Skip for the current state of the new Box and also the early skid in SEC play? Good to know.

I always thought it was obvious that Skip would give advice to coaches. He’s the greatest coach in LSU athletics history. Why not ask for some insight from someone like that?
I’m not trying to imply he runs the team. It’s more like a young man asking his dad for advice trying to figure out a problem. Coaches do it a lot more than you might think.
Because like most things, baseball changes. There are more guys throwing 95+ now than ever before, the nutrition, the training... everything is different.
Be grateful that Skip came and built the foundations that LSU is still building on today (for all athletics) but stop with the dumb takes. Jay Johnson has been successful for quite a while.

Skip is not secretly coaching
