Of course they are. But to kick him off the team because you believe he's statistically likely to get in trouble again doesn't help anyone.

I for one don't believe Bertman actually said this. Or if he did, that he was doing any more than stating his opinion.

As has been said numerous times in this thread, and on this board in general, if Miles was intending to kick Hill off the team he would have. Barring some revelation at his hearing that changes the current narrative, I believe Hill will rejoin the team at some point this season.

there are cases where kids have stopped doing stupid things. like in the case of most of us on here.

and on the TM thing, one can argue that TM was caught with dope several times in 2011 based on the "many" incidents it was alleged he had. I think it worked out well for LSU for him to be given extra chances that year, considering how he turns several games around for us (WVU, Ark, UGA). If he'd had just stayed away from the synthetic stuff in 2012, all would have been cool and smooth sailing. Turned out, he couldn't kick his addiction.

There is a thin line between saddling an athlete with minor punishment to the point where he sees the err of his ways and flies straight; versus enabling him. This is one of the toughest jobs a HC has.

If Hill was going to be booted, it would have already happened.

Period.

Skip is a narcissistic a-hole who sticks his nose where it doesn't belong all the time. Always has, always will.

He is one of the best coaches that ever lived and made LSU's baseball program what it is. I think these traits often go hand in hand with great coaches.
damn good point and spot on. ask some ex-players what they think of Skip. I'm talking about some well-known good players. They realize the whole package you get with Skip. It is what it is.

The beauty is that you don't know how many times it worked.

If guys are caught breaking rules that don't go public and Les deals with it in house and the player actually becomes a better person. Those aren't the stories you'll hear.

I'll wait to see on this one..

this has been my position since he got arrested...

I've been leaning towards expecting him back early in the season but now, who the frick knows.

I'm still of the opinion consider the source: Jacques Doucet.

But, yes, it is not outside the realm of possibility for Skip to pontificate on something like this.

It's not. Les doesn't even know what he's going to do yet, and won't til Aug. 16 at the earliest. Skip just looking for attention/relevance and Doucet doing the same. What the frick is "Shreveport Media" anyway?

Interesting. Skip shouldn't have an opinion about LSU athletics, even though he is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the university. And a former AD of the university. Yet, he shouldn't have an opinion.

Good thing we have this message board so all of the people truly worthy of having an opinion can express it.

He shouldn't have a public opinion on it because people may think he actually knows something. No one knows anything until at least Aug 16th. So Skip should keep his mouth shut and go back to counting concession stand money.

Doucet is known to embellish the facts and Skip is known to voice his opinions, sometimes inappropriately.

I am reading little into this.

Judging by Les' past actions and player/insider comments, which are the best things we can go by, I would think Hill will miss anywhere from 2-4 games, but will be back for the meat of the SEC schedule.

Everything is speculation at this point and we should probably all just shut up and wait.

No one is saying that, dude. Of course, he can have an opinion. So can you and I. However, he has no right to go to the "Shreveport media" and pre-empt an extremely important decision that Miles has yet to make by spewing his opinion (also known as "speculation").

You've been on the rant too long to think this is a remote possibility.

Again, without an actual quote, there is nothing here to see. It could have been as simple as a reporter asking "Miles has implied that if Hill's probation is revoked, he will be off the team. Do you agree?" And Skip responds, "sure."

Reporter tells JD, "Skip thinks Hill won't play this year." JD tweets.

Sounds about right. This whole circus has just further showed the sad state of affairs that journalism is in. See: Matthew Harris, etc.
