He needs to pitch inside. If he pitched like Nola he would completely dominate

Pretty sure he’s already the most dominant in the league but you prolly know more that our pitching coach.

threw 111 pitches before but he is a stud with 9 Ks with his breaking ball not working for him yesterday like he wanted...Unfortunately he couldn't get a quick inning yesterday to extend to the 7th inning...

You thought Ed O was a good coach so forgive me if I assume you know jack shite about pitching.

I think that throwing a real big league fastball makes it damn hard on a college ump. Its very fast and has a lot of movement. You average college ump has probably never had to call that in his life.

He has a lot of potential. I’m unimpressed with his command of his breaking ball and the fact that he doesn’t have a good change up. He doesnt feel the need to change the eye level of the hitter. Someone posted about throwing inside. He doesn’t throw inside because he doesn’t have command when he tries to throw it as hard as he does. His ball has a Lotta run that would be towards a right hander. So he needs a started on the outside of the plate And run it back in. Look at his arm slot when he’s throwing that pitch.
Someone posted about Nola earlier in this thread and that person is correct. Nola had elite command. He doesn’t need Nola‘s command. He needs to be able to throw a change up and breaking ball for a strike once in a while.
Yes he can throw it hard. Yes he has lots of horizontal movement on his fastball.
What he needs is it an effective change up and the ability to command his breaking ball. This isn’t about squeezing him either. He will be squeezed in the major leagues. I understand this isn’t the major leagues, and he is very effective for college.

He goes inside quite a bit.

Which he has both of, hence leading the country in Ks and his paltry walk numbers.

This is one of the dumbest posts I’ve seen on here in a while.

Do you want to know how many times he threw inside the last two games? Exactly 4 times. He needs to throw inside strikes to frick and get hitters out inside and high.

I’m talking about next level pitching not college. None of these frickers are MLB hitters. A .250 major league hitter is going to take his arse yard. Or they’ll walk a shite load. Which is why I said college. And no he does not have command on his slider or change. He threw one slider last game for a strike and this game he was “off“ as you guys say. Being “off“ multiple games in a row is not being off. It means that he just doesn’t have command of those two pitches. It’s OK for this level because of his elite fastball.

Go get the statistics and show me. 75% of his pitches to lefties are 4 seam FB that run away. When have you seen him bury a slider on the back foot of a lefty for a strike?

He rarely throws a change as I mentioned probably because he has been overpowering hitters. That won’t happen in the major leagues. You have to pitch to all quadrants with command on the black. It doesn’t really matter how hard he throws as long as he can command the pitch and have the ability to pitch frontwards and backwards.

If you ever want to see elite command of a breaking pitch from a college pitcher, watch Aaron Nola or Ben McDonald. And by the way, I guarantee you Ben threw almost his hardest Skenes. He was thrown 95/96 in those days, which is not the same as what trackman measures from the hand.

Some of you are the biggest crybaby bitches I’ve ever seen. There is no doubt Nola was a better pitcher to say otherwise is being an idiot. I expect it from a bud light drinking fg like Damone.

Except, you know, statistics that say otherwise.

Skenes has a lower whip, BB/9, and H/9 with a much higher K/9.

Nola’s career here was insane, but he was, at best, just as good as Skenes.

I never said Nola was better, had better stuff or stats. Nola wasn’t blessed with a 101 mph fb. His only advantage over Skenes is control of pitches and location. If you could combine the 2 and Skenes could snap off a slider in any count or pitch inside with more control he would be more dominant. ( that comment brings out the idiots on this board)

There is no way our coaches and his future coaches won’t try to develop his off speed pitches more and where he locates.

And all that lack of control he’s only hit 1 batter. Along with 124 K’s to only 12 walks. You like to talk like you know baseball but you’re just another fricking idiot on the rant. Do us all a favor and step in front of a moving bus.
