Weekend rotation. I know we’re playing lesser competition but they all pound the strike zone.

Yeah, the interesting thing is what do you do with shores if that happens, weekday or weekend bullpen? Id rather have him in the pen if those are my options

Shores is legit but for now mid week starter is where he should be.

Agreed, invaluable reps midweek to get ready for later this season and next year as a weekend starter.

Throw him midweek. Keep him starting. It’ll pay off sooner rather than later. I don’t know that he adds a lot of value in the pen right now.

The pitching staff is coming very much in focus (thank God):
Skenes
Hurd
Floyd/Shores

Little closing
Cooper
Ackenhausen
A lot of other guys

Great scenario

Not really. It’s just high velo. Not much run and doesn’t seem to have a high spin rate judging off the swings against it.

He’s a great talent that will be elite before he leaves but he has some development to do.

Shores does have really good movement on some of his pitches. He just needs to work on getting his command in check. He gets a little wild at times but that is expected with a true freshman.

Where does Javen Coleman fit when he comes back? Kid can bring it.

Man it’s tough to forget about a guy like Grant Taylor but this staff is making it happen

He’s got a very nice breaking ball and changeup but that wasn’t what we were talking about. His fast ball doesn’t move and isn’t deceptive enough to keep hitters off of it. It’s 98 mph but it’s not the out pitch it should be.

Floyd is 94-96 and gets more swings and misses off of his fastball than shores and that’s without the benefit of legit off speed stuff.

Skenes, Hurd, Floyd is the weekend rotation for SEC. Shores is the mid-week starter. Little is the closer. Cooper returns to middle relief.

Yea I like this as well. Maybe throw Collin’s or Dutton for midweek games.

Probably midweek because I think rn with Little and a few others we have enough in the pen vs. A 4th starter but.. idk it is a delicate thing those 3 starters for sure

Maybe for a few weeks, but I think our best chances on weekends would be Shores on Sunday with Floyd in the bullpen. This would allow CJJ to use Floyd if Skenes or Hurd has a bad start. If he doesn't need Floyd on Saturday or Friday, then he can come in after three innings on Sunday and get us to the late innings. And if we don't need that then he can just throw a couple of innings and be ready to help midweek.

Don't worry about midweek games. See how the weekend plays out. You can throw Floyd, Little and Cooper 30 pitches each unless they were used hard on the weekend. Then close it out with the back of the bullpen.

I think that losing Taylor cost us the luxury of having a dedicated midweek starter.

I hate this Johnny wholestaff crap the previous staff rolled out in midweeks. I'd like to see us develop 4th/5th starters in case they're needed in Hoover or regional round

It's unrealistic to expect competitive pitching from him this season.
