LSU (13-9, RPI: 73, SOS: 61) LSU is in the second tier of teams on the outside looking in, thanks, at least at this point, to losses to Stephen F. Austin and Vanderbilt, coupled with poor metrics. The Tigers swept their season series with Texas A&M and Arkansas, but those are their only wins in the SEC against possible tournament teams. They did knock off Michigan and Houston in the non-conference so there is still some hope, depending on how they play over the next month. With games remaining against Florida, Alabama, Missouri, Georgia and South Carolina, there’s more than enough time for the Tigers to rally the types and volume of wins it will take to get them an at-large bid.

Will be a grand task, but I hope the box lunches and no locker room may have turned the teams attention to what they need to do to get better.

Essentially the same thing as saying we're 'Not mathematically eliminated" from winning the SEC.

Several bracketology people say LSU is in the mix for last 4 in/first 4 out, so yeah

6-2 would be enough, especially if they can win @UF or @Bama

Its most likely not going to happen. Try to accept this now, to save yourself from melting down later.

The fact that this team is even being mentioned in tournament conversations at this point in the season is awesome.

That's not true at all. LSU currently has 6 wins vs. top 50 teams (3 of those away from home). The only teams who have more (7) are Virginia and Villanova -- who are both in the hunt for #1 seeds. For comparison sake, here are some teams who have LESS than 6 top 50 wins: Duke, North Carolina, Purdue, Xavier, Michigan St. ALL of them are in consideration for #1 seeds.

Now, that's not to say LSU WILL get in to the tournament. In fact, odds are they won't. But to act like there is no chance at this point is ridiculous. Tomorrow is a chance for LSU to notch another top 50 win. Will it happen? Who knows. But they've beaten six such teams already, so it's not as if it would be unprecedented.

I didn't say it was going to, and I'm not going to melt, in fact, I've stated on this site multiple times that what Will Wade has done this season with this team has already made me happy and anything else is lagniappe.

However, I was merely pointing out that "running the table" is far from what is required from LSU to make the tournament or at least have a shot

My dream year is for LSU to become the first sixteenth seed to knock off a number one seed.

The hope for next year should be much, much higher. Like a top 5 seed, not a 16 seed.

We’re winning 4 of the next 5. I’ll be at Sonic on Coursey.

Just the fact that we're mentioned as even an outside chance at making the dance at this point in the season is a major victory for Will Wade.

Not even close to the same.

LSU will never be a 16 seed, in fact no team in the SEC will be, those are usually the auto bids from the garbage conferences

The home loss to SFA is KILLING our RPI.

They've already lost three games in the Southland, which is a lot for them at this point in the season.

That could end up costing us 15-20 spots in the RPI.

The fact that Wade even has this team in the discussion of having any chance to make the tournament is incredible.
