Others may have answered this similarly in other threads.

The refs can call a penalty against Bama under the circumstances you describe. It would likely be for unnecessary roughness.
For example, if on this play the Bama defender really ripped RJ's helmet off, they could have called a penalty. In this case you would assess both penalties. First, the 5 yarder against LSU, then the 15 against Bama.
Under the circumstances, I think they didn't believe the infraction rose to that level. So, it sucks, but I think it's probably the right call.

Me thinks you don't understand the meaning of dead ball.

False start means the play never happened.

Therefore, we can't be penalized on a play that never happened. As always, I HTH.

That's cool. Just wondering since you have problems with some of the basics, but that is understandable if someone doesn't stay current.

You should rewatch the video. Be sure to turn up the sound.

The funny thing about a subtle pic like this antoher instance of national media saturating instances of Alabama commiting fouls or penalites being excused for Alabama. Even to the casual observer of sports it's tough to not walk away with the impression that Bama is a shady program after all the news stories going around and the SEC is corrupt.

Actually, they could have also called illegal hands to the face or a facemask call (since all you have to do to get flagged is put your hand on the opponents facemask) on RJ Jackson. But there wasn't a flag thrown for that. It's a conspiracy. The refs were working for LSU here.

They've called facemasks on stiffarms before.

Sure, if there is an actual facemask that occurs.

But you're wrong about what you said about the hands to the face and about any contact with the facemask being flaggable.

If you stiff arm someone by pushing them down with your hands to their facemask pretty sure you wont get called for illegal hands to the face... FAIL!
