To that, I say 'Wow'

I don't believe in any of the conspiracy bs but do think a direct 'one-off' potential conflict of interest should heighten awareness.

I feel the same. Like how is that even possible? Its not like hes not a Bama fan. How can that not be a conflict of interest?

He’s been head of officials for years, so in reality, all the SEC refs are Alabama employees. He’s also the one that moved Bugeyes into the replay office when his obvious on field bias got to hard to explain away. Now he screws tGump opponents in anonymity

You don’t even need to be a conspiracy theorist to buy into this. There is an entire body of social psychology research that clearly shows that decision-making is context-based. Implicit biases manifest even when you willfully attempt to be “neutral.”

It’s functionally impossible to get a fair shake under these conditions. Even with upright and honest Bama grads (hah), they’re still operating within a Bama-centric geographic location and prior loyalties that totally shape how they view these sorts of decisions.

There is quite literally science that shows that this is a stupid fricking arrangement.

One-off. right. It is all just coincidence.

Still laughing.

I hope that's not true. He had appeared to be a man of integrity. Knowing he's an Alabama grad and if he indeed was the one who so quickly upheld it then that's shameful.

Need to file a suit in court and get a stay until case is heard. Worked for Ezekiel Elliot. Need a way to have an independent party review the hit.

100000% agree. Go back and look at how traps and biases played a key role into the decision to launch the space shuttle Challenger Disaster.

All people are biased and predjudice.

sounds to me that the whole SEC referee situation is a conflict of interest. i'm not one to lament poor calls as they happen to all teams but this was a horseshite call that has Bama ramifications.

I definitely think the SEC has to do two things or their credibility will wane...….

1) remove the bama influence from their operation. make a rule that refs and other officials have a limit on ANY schools affiliation. in other words, hire from ALL SEC schools; even use a quota system if necessary.

2) move SEC HQ from Birmingham to Atlanta. Atlanta is the capital of the Southeast; Birmingham is the capital of the University of Alabama.

in the long run, having bama run the conference is toxic; like Tejas running the Big 12. the more schools get pissed at the favoritism the more endangered the SEC becomes.
