Heard this tonight on the "Hold the Rope" radio show, according to Dan Canavieri. He said Alex's dad told him this. FYI. Hopefully, he has no setbacks this time. And we're playing at Vandy this week who likes to run.

Has stealing second really been a big issue in our losses? Granted I’d say Game 1 of this weekend woulda ended 3-1 cause Milazzo woundnt have missed that ball.....

Love him back regardless I guess. Bench Jobert, DH McManus

It hasn't been much of an issue, except for the A&M series if I'm remembering correctly. But it will be an issue this weekend. And with a bad middle infield on that turf, we can't afford to give any/many free bases.

Not to be a negative Nancy.... but do we trust Thompson/Doughty to even receive a throw out from Milazzo to 2nd?

Hell I honestly don’t

If true i'd like to see McManus at DH because Jobert doesn't know how to hit anymore

It makes zero sense for him to catch Tuesday but not go in this past crucial weekend.

From what I heard, it's the lateral movement in his knee that's the issue and if he's not fully ready to go, it makes sense to not play him and risk aggravating it again (or making it worse by hurrying back).

I get what you're saying but if he thinks he needs a couple more days, then so be it.

I'm just as bummed about this past series as you are but you don't risk bringing back someone before they say they're ready to play. I highly doubt he's doing it intentionally.

What difference could two days possibly make?

To offset trying to avoid a conference sweep as opposed to… Natchitoches. Where we should score 15.

As I said, who knows how his knee feels. Maybe he feels it's almost there and a couple more days would be beneficial. That's the point.

If he's not ready to play then he's not ready to play.

I highly doubt he's dodging any playing time.

Not trying to be rude or anything, honestly but would you rather him not play at all? Or hurry him back possibly strain the knee ligaments more when he was that close to being 100%?

The only person who knows for sure is Milazzo and Johnson.

I'm not going to pretend I know what's going on with his knee but if the kid doesn't feel like his knees are 100% but feels like it would be beneficial to wait a couple days and go from there, I'm not going to rip the kid for that. (not saying you're doing that but I don't think you're being fair to his and/or Johnson's decision to not play this weekend. I understand the gravity of the series and all that but it is his decision. It's his knee)

Respect the kid's decision. I'm with you on it would've been awesome for him to play in this weekend's series. I'm with you on that. But it is his his knee and his decision.

At least he feels like he can play on Tuesday. Let's focus on that instead of the 'yeah but....'

Don’t they also have to catch the throw down from the catcher on a stolen base attempt?

Tuesday night might be a way to test his knee.
An inning or two.

Oh, yay. Can't wait for that .180 average in the lineup. Maybe Hal Hughes could pinch hit for him, since he had a higher average.

Not as much as the simple throws to first.

Because it’s to test him out to see how the knee reacts during the game and then the next couple days to see if he can catch more on the weekends and also get him back to seeing live pitching in a game. You just soon do that in a game you should win easily.

It’s kind of like MLB teams sending their injured players to the minors for a couple games to get acclimated with live pitching/batters before going back to the big leagues.

I would expect the idea is to bring him back slowly. Let him get the start, catch for a few and get a few at bat's before the Vandy series while in a relatively low stress game. He may only catch Friday for Hilliard then rest for the other 2. Might all depend on how he feels.

It hurts to watch pass ball strike outs cost runs and games.

so, the players honored on senior day. They are gone for sure or do they still have the option to come back?

Thought I had read that Beloso planned to return. But, he was honored on senior day.

Some of them have the option to come back, Dugas, Beloso, and Bianco specifically.

Shaffer, McManus, Hilliard, and Fontenot don't have another year.

ETA: Gio can, Viet can't. The two juco guys from last year that became managers/bullpen catchers/assistant coaches, who know.

That’s a Project question
Beloso didn’t play at all, would that get him a red shirt?
No clue how any of that works

I’m going to miss Hilliard & Vietmeier
