So why are the folks in Vegas feeling so optimistic about LSU? My guess would be it has something to do with the fact that LSU will return a second-year starting quarterback, the best running back tandem in the league in Fournette and Derrius Guice, virtually all of its wide receiving corps, its entire defensive line and one of the deepest and most talented secondaries in the country. Also, LSU has a favorable schedule with home games against Alabama and Ole Miss. It also helps that Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Alabama are all losing their quarterbacks to graduation, and Bama will have to replace several members of its staff including defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. Some will say my optimism is a result of “seeing through purple and gold glasses,” and I won’t deny that I have a pair, but I can assure you the oddsmakers who are touting LSU’s 2016 season do not.

LSU could have the exact type of run as any great program.
Could you please post a list of these great programs with their records for the last 4 years? I can think of a few, but none have to play bama and the rest of the west plus florida every year.

Georgia Bulldogs +2000
Stanford Cardinal +2200
Ole Miss Rebels +2200
This part is hilarious and just unbelievable if you ask me.

At least we've been there before to set the predecessor that it is possible but A&M, really?!?!

These odds must have came out the week everyone thought LSU would have a great coach

Lmao. You guys can't stand anything positive LSU and it bothers the hell out of you that the national media is recognizing LSU as a high probability to win a championship. This isn't sunshine pumpers hyping them...this is the experts in Vegas....but whatever helps you cope man....negas DO NOT like this...at all.
Part of it is thus is a young team that will be a year older and feature several prominent juniors (and hopefully more seniors) to lead the team.
Point is, the expectations are high (as they should be), and up to coaching to get the most out of the ridiculous talent that comes thru here.
The LSU coaching staff should be meeting with NFL teams and other schools like most Div 1 programs do in the off season to absorb all the strategy they can of MODERN FOOTBALL

We've got a coach who was handed the reins to the most prolific era of the program and we're back to that average.
Most prolific era?
2000-4 losses
2001-3 losses
2002-5 losses
2003-1 loss
2004- 3 losses
You realize that Miles last 5 year win loss record is better than " the most prolific era " you claim. Good god our fans are dumb.

Rickdaddy is exactly the problem.
Using fear of LSU's past to accept this current trend.
Haha. Yeah I'm a die hard lsu fan with no power to make change at lsu. Just like you. I just refuse to shite on the coach with the best win% in lsu history.
Also our current trend is finishing in the top 15 3 of the last 4 years with a great chance to make it 4 out of 5 this year. Now go ahead and shite on top 15 finishes like lsu has this huge amount of them. Just for your info, bama has more sec titles than we have top 15 finishes.

They sign a top 5 recruiting class on the regular and even get #1 overall players now.
We've had 2 top 5 classes in the last 4 years and have signed 1 overall #1 player but don't let facts get in the way of you being ignorant.

LSU puts more players into the NFL than any other team late
Not since Saban has been at bama but you're on a roll of being wrong.

That goes to show the amount of talent that LSU is recruiting now that it is established.. If Miles (who is truly not an exceptional coach.. He was an average coach prior) can come to LSU and maintain.. why do people fear a new coach who may actually have in game adjustments.. and maybe even a better coach
Im in favor of a change at head coach if it is an upgrade. Jimbo would've been an upgrade, but outside of a coach like him the chances that lsu hire 3 straight coaches that will be very successful is not good. Why have teams with more prestige and history struck out hiring the next up and comer but any ole coach at lsu could win?
quote:
don't see LSU doing any worse than the current trend
Did you really just say that there is no way lsu could get worse than 3 of the last 4 years finishing top 15?
FANS LIKE YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. YOU don't know how hard it is to win even 9 games every year and you think we couldn't get worse than finishing top 15 3 of the last 4 years?
I'll let you in on a fact. From 2009-2013 4 programs out of 126 won at least 9 games every year and lsu was one of them. 99 % of cfb programs can't win 9 games every year and you think lsu can't get worse than 3 of the last 4 seasons finishing top 15? you are the problem.
quote:
LSU could have the exact type of run as any great program.
Except no we can't because programs like Ohio state and bama dwarf lsu in the amount of money they spend on their programs. Do you realize Ohio state's staff budget is double what lsu's is? Do you realize that Bama spends 8 times, literally 8 times, what we do on recruiting?
Educate yourself on cfb.

Is this Vegas pressure or the press pressure? Either way it's a better prediction than this past season's.

This info should be on the recruiting board...could the adm. do something positive for once!!!!! HUH!!!!

quote:I was including the early Miles years as part of the most prolific era. Hasn't been the same lately. Miles has 1 less loss in the past 5 than the record Saban put up. CNS took over a team that had 7 wins combined in the previous 2 years. CLM's bunch had 3 times that.

Rick, do you still believe that the results of the 90's were typical of the 12th winningest program in D1-History? Or are you dumb?

Saban took over team littered with future nfl talent and some of the best players at their position in lsu history.
Rohan Davey
Josh Reed
Bradie James
trev Faulk
Dominak DAVIS
Devery Henderson
Eddie Royal
Labrandon Toefield
Chad Lavalais
Jarvis Green
Kendrick allen Ryan Clark
Stephen peterman
And he proceeded to lose 4 games.

Show me I said this. I said lsu doesn't have a bunch of former coaches that were great. Which is fact

Before Saban arrived, we had 2 coaches with multiple sec titles throughout their tenure at lsu and obe of their tenures (more) was in the 30's.
From 1938-2003 we had 1 coach with multiple sec titles.

Dude, you should copy and save all that so you don't have to retype it a million times. Some people are just ignorant. Thanks for taking the time to educate. Hopefully at least some of that sunk in.
